I'm thinking about putting a nice note on the invitations - would this be ok?

What a compassionate group... to the person who went on and on about what's next milk, eggs, whatever and what a boring party, our parties are a lot of fun...thank you. Didn't want to have to defend my views but will simply say, we believe animals are a gift and have no problem with eating them but try to be humane about that. We draw the line at taking an animals life for no other reason than pure vanity or fashion and are not comfortable with it in our home. Sorry i asked - I will follow my heart and do what I know is right.

Oh yeah...and leather is fine. At least the animal's life was utilized to it's full extent....unlike fur. If you are eating it you should utilize every part - much like the native americans did.

Animals are animals. Who are you to tell a furry animal hasn't been fully utilized like a cow?

If you are going to respect one, respect them all.

Do not eat animals that have faces, or wear animals with skins.

Sounds logical to me.

I would just put a little note on the bottom of your invitation. Someone made a good point about the leather though! How far are you willing to take this? No Meat? No Chicken? No Fish? No rice crispie squares or jello (marshmellows and jello are all from the gelatin inside a cows leg) or milk? Or ice cream, yogurt or cheeses. The list of banned items could be endless if everyone chipped in with their thoughts! What a fun party to be invited to!!! Bread and Water for everyone!!!!!

I agree with you about this, if an animal is used to it's fullest potential, then there is not a moral wrong being done. If an animal is killed simply for vanity, that is immoral and cruel. I would simply add a lighthearted statement on your invites, something to the effect of, "Fur-free christmas party! Thank you for your consideration.

Don't expect some people to come.My best pair of boots are 100% leather,I wear a rabbit jacket also.If that was on an invite I wouldn't come and if I did show up and it was mentioned I would leave imediately, that would be an insult. Not smoking or drinking at your home,I agree 100%,telling me what I can wear no.That's my business. And a Merry Christmas to you too!

I guess you could. Be prepared for people to be ticked off that you are dictating what they can and cannot wear though.

A question.....What about leather? If you have a problem with fur would you also object to leather? Just curious.

depends who you are inviting. if its friends and family, you can spread the word verbally but I wouldn't put it on the invitations. If its business contacts then you simply can't tell them what to wear.
Anyway, take their coats at the door and let them celebrate.

I would think that the people you would be inviting to your party already know you. So why wouldn't they know your views on this issue?

I don't see why putting a note wouldn't be okay. It's your party, it's your rules =]
