my nephew loves galazy quest and doesn't realize it's a parody of classic trek. Can you think of any classic trek episodes he might be able to watch? obviously not too much fighting with klingons ;) and not too much of capt. kirk's visits with green women ! (if that's even possible)

For a kid that young, the best Star Trek episodes will be the ones dealing with monsters. The creatures are campy enough to not scare the kid too much and the Star Trek crew wins in the end in all of them.

Arena
Kirk vs. a Gorn commander.

The Devil in the Dark
A strange creature upsets a mining colony.

The Trouble with Tribbles
Some Klingon action but still a fun one.

The Man Trap
Ok, it is a salt vampire but still the kid might like it.

Is it a boy or girl? I was about that age when I discovered Trek. The episode was "Arena", which is perfect for a young kid, because it's extremely simple -- Kirk Vs. the Lizard Guy (Gorn). I was hooked from that moment.

Probably the best episode to introduce new viewers (especially that young) to the characters is "The Trouble With Tribbles".

Preview them yourself on Sci/Fi channel...I think they come on on Tuesday nights. Record them, then if they're too much for you too feel comfortable with him seeing...erase and wait for the next episode.
