I have a dual boot PC, Windows XP lite on one partition, and SimplyMepis linux on the other. Today I had 4-6 power surges in a row that turned off my computer. I have it on a pro surge protector provided by my company so I'm fairly sure it wasn't damaged. Well when I went to boot XP lite up the damn thing wouldn't even recognize the keyboard or mouse. I then booted into simplymepis and both work fine (I'm on it right now). What could be the problem with XP and how can I fix it? Thank you! :)

The XP could have corrupted drivers. Those are hard to troubleshoot. The first thing I do is run a repair if I dont have an extra mouse and keyboard laying around.

At least you dont have to replace your MoBo or Power Supply.

Run a Windows XP Repair on that Partition installation that should help it. Restart the computer and boot from the disk. Then press enter button not R button. Press f8 button to agree then it should find your windows installation. Highlight that installation and press enter. You will then be prompted to repair it.

Linux works fine, so XP needs to be Repaired / Re-installed.

Call your company's IT support staff. They need to back up your data FIRST. Don't try this yourself.
