Depends on how far down you have the gas pedal. Also depends on the cars gear ratio, and if the car is equipped with Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), and overdrive. When accelorating the RPMs are higher, when cruising they are lower. Going up or down hill has an effect too. On a perfect straight away though on the average, I would guess about 5 or 6 thousand.

The change is dependant on where the kick down is set at on the paricular model. Some are set higher usually on sporty models. There is also a second kick down at the full throttle. It is regulated by the pressure valves in the gearbox. useually set at aroud 3000 revs mark

Well, this depends on a lot of factors. Performance vehicals will typically rev higher than economy models and also it depends on how hard your pressing the Gas. At full throttle, most likely between 5000 and 6000 (on most cars) but at light throttle acceleration, between 2000-2500 is common n my experience.

It all depends on how hard you press the accelerator, whether you are going up hill or down, how many passengers you have at the time. On a normal level road and assuming you are only picking up speed gently, the gear box will change gear at about 2,000---2,500 revs.
Going uphill this will increase and down hill it will be much less.
Push the pedal to the floor and it will rev to about 5,500, depending on your car.

automatics in sports cars are designed to shift at redline but during the shift the revs may not come down

high revs are not a problem if your nailing your throttle but at normal driving the revs shouldnt go beyond 6000 rpm mark

I think you just have to lift your foot off the accelerator, the car will tell you. Listen to your engine note and the behaviour of the car

typically a car will run between 2000 rpms and 4000 to 5000 rpms depending on how hard you're depressing the pedal as you climb gears...
