wow, what kinda muck rakin' troublemaker are you, anyway? lol.
it never fails to amaze me that people look at stalin accending to power over russia, hitler over germany, all the other dictators, and smugly turn away, "it can't happen here... ." what makes america so immune? i just don't get it. visions of ostriches with their heads in the sand come to mind. what makes americans feel so dang special? so superior?
it can happen here. dick cheney has spent the last half dozen years doing little other than setting the stage for just such an event. i'm not going to feel at all good saying 'i told you so.' but it's coming.

I think the master piece of legislation is the Presidential Executive order # 51 that is twined with the Homeland Security directive # 51 -It passed into law without a lot of attention etc
If it is -- the Martial law thing will come in before the elections so that Homeland security can have the legal power to "run" or oversee the entire election process -
A fixed election under martial law is not going to be up for open debates now is it
But it will be an election and if you are told so and so won - you'd better believe it or else
Bush will ride off into the sunset - or rather the shadows of power - no more will his services as front man be needed -
I suspect he will be given a job by Bush Sr and Bush Sr Cheney and the new front man will continue to make the "America for the new century" Manifesto become a reality and if they don't get their way 9 billion persons may find themselves expendable

This question assumes so many things that are not true that I am beginning to believe that you might be approaching politics from an altered reality.
1, We don't have kings in this country.
2.date changes are a function of the various states, not the federal government, and most especially not the President.
3. date changes have nothing to do with Iran, or whether we will invade Iran, or even talk to Iran.
4. If we or anyone else invaded Iran, why would we or anyone else be worried about "the few who are left defending it". If one country invades another, the object is to DEFEAT the invaded country. Whether Iran was defended by a few or a lot, wouldn't matter to any successor of President Bush. At that point all that would matter in your reality would be winning.
Perhaps, if you were to organize your thoughts a little better, you would be able to make a point. As it is, you are just raving about imaginary monsters.

Sigh.
Bush will be out in January 2009. He will not declare martial law. If he tried, the nation would not stand for it. I highly doubt that the military would accept any orders from him.
There are so many people jumping up and making claims like this with nothing to back them up. Yes, he has violated the rights of people. That is true. However, there is nothing magical about the office of the president. The military does not blindly follow orders of whoever claims to be in control. If there is reason to doubt the validity of martial law then the military will not take it seriously.

OK. Come back to reality and take your medication.
Its people like you who give all liberals a bad name. Its people like you with your totally baseless and irrational ravings that scare the middle of the road voter. That is why george Bush is President to begin with. When your average, independent voter (the ones who decide elections) go into the booth, they think of all the people like you on the far, far left and then vote for the lessor of two evils. That is why Bush is President. Not because people like him but because people didn't want you and those like you.
The move ons, conspiracy theorists and the nutbags like you are the ones who are going to cost the Dems the 2008 election.
But to answer your question, I think you are confused as to what country you live in. Things like that happen in places like Pakistan because they are not true democracies. We have so many layers of Gov't that your statement really only shows how ignorant you really are.Who is going to enforce your "martial Law"? You don't think congress, the supreme court or the Generals would question it? Not to mention we don't have anywhere near the military presence in this country to do what you think could happen. And why don't we? Because what you think may happen can never happen. I suggest you stop drinking the Kool Aid, come back to reality, educate yourself and at least have a rational, well thought out point of view, whatever that may be. Once you start the loony talk, you really show how much you just don't know.
Hate Bush all you want, but please, be rational. You make the rest of us look bad.

As much as I agree with you that Bush is a IDIOT and CRIMINAL if we invade IRAN forget it WW III will break out and this country will be in serious trouble we will be attacked and the devastation will be far worse than 9-11 and Pearl Harbor...I don't think he is that stupid to do such a thing...However he is Cheney's puppet and If the DICK wants to invade Iran on some trump up charges like the reasons for IRAQ then who knows

Imposition of martial law by an outgoing Prez is the least of your concerns.
Look at the big picture more carefully.

What makes you think that he hasn't? He has already said that the president is above the law. He has ordered the secret arrests of US citizens on US soil. He has ordered illegal wiretapping of US citizens without cause. He has outed CIA spies and leaked top secret intelligence for political purposes. He has hired actors to pretend to be reporters. He used FEMA to keep aid from getting to New Orleans in the aftermath of Katrina. He has ordered the executive branch to illegally withhold information from Congress. He pardoned a convicted criminal for the sole purpose of keeping that criminal from turning in his co-conspirators. He has manufactured intelligence in order to justify the occupation of another country.
