the other answers will change direction plus "magnify" the force. The quesion just wants a direction change and no change to the force.

It's not confusing at all. The question is testing whether the student understands the basic principles.

I personally think problems are too easy in the sense that the problems are worded so precisely where you don't have to really think about it. That's the dumbing down of education.

Not only are you confused, but so is the guy/gal who posed that question. What a nonsense to teach in physics. That time could be used better for real stuff. Instead the teachers are dumbing down the students.
