during clinical rotations in medical school, does the student get paid for those two years ?

No, it's part of your education. You still pay tuition as well! Seriously, you ARE learning and being supervised, which take a lot of funding (for the professors and the like). You don't start getting paid until your residency (and then you won't feel like it's enough for the hours you work).
