It was acting as if the plugs were going bad, so I changed them out. They were NGK, I replaced with Champion, Gapped at .035. The engine turns over and just keeps turning - no starting. I rechecked the gaps a couple times and I'm sure they are good.

Have you checked to see if it's even getting a spark? Take out one plug and ground it against an engine fin and turn the engine over. If you see a hot blue spark, you're good, if not look for other issues-CDI unit or whatever Suzuki's using to produce that magic spark.
Then check for fuel, if you've cranked it a lot without it firing, you should have smelled raw fuel anyway, if not, maybe it's a fuel delivery problem. Does it use a fuel pump? Most bikes do nowadays and a weak fuel pump or clogged fuel filter can act much like bad plugs, starving the engine, causing backfiring and hot running due to a lean mixture.
What about air? Have you looked at your air cleaner lately? A stopped up air cleaner will cause the engine to run rich and if it's bad enough, again, you're dead...
Other than lack of compression, that pretty well covers why the engine won't run at all...K ;o)

It sounds like it's time to up-grade to a Boss Hoss, huh.
