Relax. Sometimes the labor doesn't start on it's own. Your baby is perfectly healthy and there will not be any risks from being induced. It's just like laboring naturally, but an IV with some drugs helps to start contractions. Try not to worry about it. You will have your baby will be in your arms within the week. Focus on that. Good luck!

First, do not stress out this is not healthy for the baby!

Induction is not that bad some body's just do not know how to go into labor and need a little kick in the butt!! I was induced 2x but I simply could not have my kids naturally so I had 6 c-sections. I will tell you what the doctor told me - Sometimes there is some reason you are not going into labor that is not known right now like your pelvis is too small, your cervix is not ready, etc..

If you really feel the need to go into labor on your own you could try breast stimulation, massage your nipples at various times during the day for 20-30 minutes at a time.

I wish you the best of luck!!

Labor induction isn't that bad. I had to go into the hospital 2 weeks early due to high blood pressure. Twice they tried to induce but it just wasn't working. I ended up having to have a c-section. Keep in mind though that the baby hadn't dropped yet and I hadn't begun to dilate. As you are close to due date you most likely are able to be induced. The induction process is really easy. The worst part was the monitors they hook you up to keep track of the baby.

Try eating a hot curry, drinking castor oil mixed with orange juice, having sex and going for a walk. However, if all else fails, you may end up just having to wait for the little guy to make an appearance in his own time. I tried everything to encourange my first to come, nothing worked and ended up getting induced anyway.
My advice? Make the most of the time before the baby arrives. Relax and get some rest and time to chill out. Believe me, once the baby arrives, you will wish you had this time back.
Good luck with the birth and the new baby...

I was induced with all 3 of my children. Don't be afraid. It'll be fine and you'll do great. They induce for a reason. Sometimes the fetus is in distress. Nothing to worry about. I know that it sounds terrible. "Distress". It scared the crap out of me when my dr. used that word with me. And try not to stress over it. I know that's easier said than done, but try to be calm. Eat some spicy foods. That might help.

How many weeks are you? You don't have to get induced if you don't want to. Also, is this your first baby? If so, the average woman goes until 41-42 weeks. Just keep up with your walking and sex. Try nipple stimulation (roll your nipples between your fingers). You could, also, insert some evening primrose oil capsules next to your cervix at bedtime. Look at this link: http://www.lifepassages.net/NaturalInduction.html. I really wouldn't suggest Castor oil. It can reek havoc on your intestines and stomach, if you know what I mean.

I was induced and thought it was AWFUL, but you do what you have to do. I survived and you will to, just remember how amazingly strong the female body really is.

oh yea, and try eating some spicy foods!!

Good Luck

Just relax! your baby will come when it is the right time. If not, the doctor knows just what to do to make the labor occur.......Dont be afraid, that might make it worse....just wait it out....your baby will come in due time....
