so i just read a question and it said she was diagnosed witha threatened abortion. but it just stated she had brown discharge.
im 15 weeks and have not bled at all throughout this. a few days ago i had a very very very little bit of spotting--it was brown. and yesterday as well. but it was only maybe about 2 or 3 spots each time about the size of the top of a pen cap. is that bad? what does it mean? has it happened to you?

details please!!!

i know the pen cap thing is random but it was infront of me and i was trying to think of something everyone knows the size of.

Brown blood is the safest of all pregnant bleeding cause it is 'old' blood. At 15 weeks this little amount of blood could have come from your cervix which is enlarged and sensitive. It can often be irritated during sex causing some spotting. Also sometimes the placenta gets very small little ruptures from straining (lifting pulling, running into something) that can cause a spot or two. As long as this is all you have I wouldn't be alarmed (easier said then done i know!). If you have more, or still feel uncomfortable with it, feel free to request the dr to take a look or let you hear the heartbeat. Never feel unreasonable requesting this once in a while for reassurance if something go slightly amiss. I am sure you are fine. blessing to you on your journey to motherhood.

I had some brown spotting, with no pain. Also it was a very small amount for a few days.
My doctor said it was from the placenta attaching.
Brown blood is old blood. Also, if there is a lot or it's red and comes with pain...that's when to worry.
I would mention the brown spotting to your doctor next time you see him. If you aren't in any pain, I wouldn't worry. (I know...it's a lot easier said then done!)

It doesn't sound like you need to worry. I actually had brown discharge/bleeding until about 18 weeks with my first child. I actually thought it was my period for the first 2 months (my periods are always irregular/nonexistent) and didn't think anything about it. After I found out I was pregnant, I mentioned it to my dr but after checking the baby in an ultrasound they weren't concerned at all. They just told me it was old blood that was coming out and to only worry if it turned bright red and was accompanied by pain, cramps, or anything like that. I think you sound just fine. It's probably just some old blood that your body was getting rid of. Maybe call your dr to be sure, but I wouldn't get overly stressed out about it! Good luck to you! :o)

Having discharge while pregnant is normal. But i think you should call your doctor because you might have an infection since the discharge has been yellow. you could have a yeast infection, which is very common while pregnant, but go to the doctor first just to be sure that what it is before you try and treat it. Good luck:)~

It is is just a few spots, and brown, you are fine! Red blood or cramping is a bad sign. Just to put your mind at ease though, call your doctor's office and talk to the nurse. She's going to tell you everything is fine, and it sure is nice to hear it from a professional!

it is probably ok if your not having pain or cramping, a fever, or the bleeding is not increasing. just to be on the safe side, call your obstetrician.

It's most likely implantation bleeding. From what they say, brown blood is okay, red is bad. Keep your eye on it, and if it continues, contact your doctor.
