With the Hun's knocking on it's door, the Empire crubbling, the great citizen's of Rome rushed to save the day. No, screaming for more circuses Rome fell around them. Now America, ripping the middle east into shreads, hastens its pace to make good of its global mess. No, its writer's are striking and America is restlesstly awayting the return of its late night talk shows.

There were many reasons the Roman Empire fell. One was because of the region was too large to control all of the population, and also because the expansion was met with resistance. You could parallel the USA policing the world with the expansion of Rome being resisted. It's an interesting thought, but I don't think America would collapse like Rome. While we all disagree on almost everything, the one common bond we have is pride and love for our country. That's what the Romans were missing.

It was an inside job, Rome had Brutus (et al) and the USA has Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Ted Kennedy, Howard Dean, Dennis Kucinich, and host of other Communists.

America has the largest GDP of any nation, people move here to enjoy our propriety and freedom, we have the best and most open education system in the world, the most Nobel prize winning scientists, and great burgers. Sorry, your suggestion seems overly pessimistic...
