Haven't we all? We all have superstitions, but some of us turn them into unhealthy compulsions. For instance, repeatedly checking to make sure that the candles have been blown out, though you know you did it. I always check to make sure that I have locked the door. I do this at least a couple of times, which I realize is stupid, but yet, I still do it. That's the way with compulsions. There is no good reason why we do it, but we fear what might happen if we don't.
