This type of question always tends to presuppose that all individuals of a species behave the same way.
It also stereotypes larger groups of animals. For example, there are hundreds of species of sharks. The whale shark is big, but placid and I can't imagine it taking part in a fight. There are also two species of alligator and a few species of bear. The bears vary greatly in their temperament.
You also have to consider where the so-called fight would occur and if both animals would fight. If it took place in an ocean, the shark would win. If it took place in a desert, the shark would lose.
There are so many different animals in the world and people tend to take most interest in the big forms, but some insects can be very fierce, while shrews are, size for size, some of the fiercest mammals.
The answer to the question is: there is not enough specific information and we don't know the answer.

Some tigers are about TWICE the size of lions -- in a fight, I'd put money on the tiger. Between a grizzly bear and a lion, I'd bet on the lion, because he's faster -- but it might be close! If we suspended reality and supposed that these animals could all fight on equal ground -- I'd actually put my money on a shark (the vicious kind), because they are just plain KILLING MACHINES and their biology is different enough that a tiger's killing technique might not damage the shark fast enough.
In reality, I don't think that lions are anywhere near as fierce as grizzly bears or a tigers. Male lions are actually quite lazy! The lionesses do all the hunting. I think there are lots of animals who are more fierce than lions.

I'd put my bets on the Lion because of the way they grow up. Bears can be timid, and they're lunky and heavy. Lions are quick and agile and often live in environments that are "survival of the fittest" type which naturally increases their strength, endurance, and fierceness. Lions also seem to be the most aggressive.
As for Lion vs Shark or Gator, it depends on who's turf they're fighting on =] If Lions can swim, the shark will still win because they are made to be natural underwater predators.

A Bengal tiger would probably stomp an African lion's butt, and a great white shark would make mince meat out of all of them in her own environment and so would an Alligator in a swamp. An elephant, an herbivore and no predator at all, facing a lion or tiger usually ends up the victor, and if we were to face any of these guys with the world's fiercest predator of the prehistoric period like the Jurassic period's T-Rex it'd be no contest at all.
However, for sure meanness, viciousness, and brutality, and sheer lust for wanton killing and senseless destruction, the most fierce predator on this planet is none of the above but Homo sapiens sapiens. As Anton LaVey wrote in his Satanic Bible years ago, "Man is the most vicious animal of them all." And that's a fact. Seldom would any of the afore-mentioned animals prey on their own kind. Not humans. We thrive by preying on our own species! In fact, we probably could not exist without it at least in the civilizations we have today.

if they fought in the water a shark would win, sharks are designed for underwater survival for instance they can hold their breathe for a long time and can tread water for hours hope this helps
