Sydney is the best city in world to live!!! if your looking to move here permanently, all Australian residents get free healthcare (hospitals and doctors not dental)... i would say an average wage is about $500 week (with no qualifications) but houses in Sydney are very expensive. you find that most people live further out from from Sydney then travel to work.... i live 1 hour north from Sydney and the houses are 70% cheaper..... its just 1 train in to the city. to buy a house in australia you need 10% deposit and a pretty good job....
saving....well i do... but i think its possiable but i think it pepends on the person because i know people who never have money!!!!! lol
i hope this helps you.....

Sydney is not the kind of place you would go to save money or be without private healthcare. It's not *bad*, but there are better places in Australia that would give a better quality of life.

Melbourne is as big as Sydney with all the mod cons and is slighty cheaper. But Sydney tends to have a warmer climate. I'd prefer to live in meblourne if i had a choice.

Sydney is a great place to live with everything you would expect in a large modern city. If you want to look at house prices, wages etc, the Sydney Morning Herald on a Saturday would be a good place to start as the classified advertisements cover those things. http://www.smh.com.au

Doctors are not free for all residents (as stated below). Healthcare is free for citizen and permanent residents only. If you are a temporary resident, you better have a private insurance. Housing is very expensive. You have to live far from the city to get a decent accomodation with decent price. You cannot save.
