Check your local codes. It all depends on what is allowed. Even more importantly, see what your home insurance will cover or not. In out old farm house with a brick chimney, plain steel pipe at just a couple bucks each piece was fine. You are obviously talking about the super insulated stuff that will prevent a house fire if you get a chimney fire.

I found this same thing out when I bought a Franklin stove at a great price. I had over 3 times the money in accessories just to be able to use it. This has been a number of years but the triple wall stainless pipe was $35 for 30". I needed 12 sections. It was required by code once the pipe went though the ceiling. I can't see a way (safe way) around it. As stated, check with your homeowners insurance about coverage. I checked mine and a built-in fireplace was okay but a wood stove would raise my premiums by 10%.

There is no way around the vent piping on a wood stove. It is a triple wall vent pipe that is used due to the high temperature heat that is vented out. You will have to stick with that vent pipe
