This should be fun... I'm Deaf but will help you out. (you can see me at www.aslmentor.com)
GO to control panel- then you should see speaker icons. Click on that and then under the tabs, you will see speakers (i.e. left or right), and a list of files of sounds. Choose one, then click on the micro icon "play" and it will play a sound right there.
If you don't hear it, it's not working right. (unless you're Deaf like I am)
Good luck!

Open a video known to have sound and listen!
Also go to your Control Panel and click Sound and Audio Devices to ensure that the volume control are not muted or turned down; this check is done by opening advanced options under S and A Devices!

nicely in case your unlucky like me, when I as much as date my previous laptop from xp to 7 it does no longer understand the previous equipment. So I had to purchase a valid card, additionally. It extremely elementary to place in. (unplug the laptop) in basic terms take off the element panel and maximum laptop's have 2 or 3 slots that the cardboard is going into. Unscrew one empty plate, set up the cardboard matching the grove it relatively is opposite of the carved out area the place the gold connections are. It kinda is going in on an attitude and don't touch the gold connections. while this is put in, use the screw from the plate and screw the cardboard in. i do no longer think of that it got here with a cd, so in basic terms plug in laptop and while it reboots, this is going to understand a clean plug and play device. this is going to pass via its gyrations and perhaps come decrease back with a menu to establish the sound, that's controlled via you. So play something once you're making the modifications, so as which you have the nicely suited stability. Ahhh... I see you do have a cd. ok once you plug it decrease back in, positioned the cd in and activate you laptop and after your laptop boots up, this is going to examine the disk and supply you on reveal classes.

Wolfance, you are dead on! I have a hearing impaired family member and checked out your website - well done.
ANOTHER TIP: If your sound card doesn't work, make sure you installed the required drivers. Look in the Device Manager if not sure.
