Play in the kids leagues, and work your way up.
If you're a youngster that is.

If you're already an adult, you're looking at MAJOR hurdles... Obsessive training to bring you to near Olympic levels of performance. Once you've done that, try-out for the team(s) in your area at open try-outs.

Hi Ive been playing soccer for 10 years. even so, i have been at the top in some points in my life, and at the bottom at other. the number one thing that you need to become a soccer player is ENDURANCE. it is more important that skill because a fast player can get in the way of someone who has the ball and keep them from scoriong. you can improve your endurance by running long distances, but that isnt enough. dedicate about half yout time to doing sprints. they can be more important than anything. in soccer tryouts for a team it is most likely that you will be running sprints more than long distances.
the 2nd thing that you need to be a soccer player is skill. personally, the best way that you can learn different dribbling skills is from another soccer player. if not, just practice running rele fast and keeping the ball with you. an important thing when dribbling with the ball is to keep the ball close to you. dont kick it so far in front that you have to catch up to it, because then someone else can take it.
another thing you need is power. whether you are playing up the line and shooting or playing back and defending, you need a big kick to either shoot or get it away from your goal. find a fence (because ik that my mom doesnt like me to kick the soccer ball against the house) and kick the ball at it. start close and just work on kicking it straight in front of you. then slowly move back and kick harder. this not only helps with your kicking strength but it helps with your aim. if you hit it on too much of an angle, it wont be fun because your gonna have to run and go get it.
the last thing that you are going to need is a good personality. at an older age, the soccer team is a tight clique, and it hard to be accepted. dont show off, and dont make it seem like you have never played before.
good luck! e-mail me if you need any help.

Well if you wish to play in leagues go online and search for leagues in your area or the park district. If your aim is to BECOME a great "futbol, futebol or football" player what you need to do NOW is pick up your things and move to either South America or Europe, NOW!!!!! Best of luck bud. Otherwise play with people OLDER and TOUGHER than you. It also depends what position you're aiming for. Why don't you go onto youtube, watch some plays and practice them over and over. Many times the move you feel might be a great one and not too challenging might not be able to come out on the pitch since you have no confidence in it. Two things, CONDITIONING and CONFIDENCE IN YOURSELF, which only comes from practice, practice, practice. But none of these will help you if you have no HEART. It might sound cliche but just try listening to how people who were not raised here talk about "futbol" and those who were raised here. As much as I love the US, there is no passion here for the game which I love. Having been raised in South America I can tell you that first you need to have it in your HEART. Eat, sleep and **** "FUTEBOL." Now go out there and "Joga Bonito."

run a lot and increase you indurance
be a TEAM PLAYER that's a big one for coaches
also keep practicing your ball skills and learn new moves, but don't be a show off, instead be a leader..

join your school's team or a local team and practice, or even play with your friends. and make sure you stay healthy because the more weight you have on the slower you'll be..

what would really help a lot is if you do a lot of exercises for your abs, because if you have a belly it WILL slow you down...

and in the end remember : PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!!

practice practice practice!
you need to learn to juggle, chip, pass, keep teh ball close to u not 10 feet in front of you, learn some tricks, shoot, the rules, and most important
DO NOT BE A BALL HOG!!!!
idk if you know much about soccer but i will explain as much as i cna to u...
juggling: start with the ball in your hands if you are a beginer.
practice throwing the ball a little in teh air and hiting it with your thigh. Hit it once and catch. Do this with both thighs. ONce u can get one do 2 and then 3 and so on. then try juggling with both thighs. hit it to the right and then the left. back and forth.
juggling wth your foot: this can take a while to get. You have to drop the ball and hit it bak up into your hands. You must be able to use both feet. Comes in handy during games.
Do as you did witht eh thigh (back and forth once and catch) to your feet.

chiping: Practice by placing the ball in from of the goal. To chip you must get your toe under the ball and then lift. You must have enough force. Practice this with a friend in the goal to catch the ball for you.

passing: very simple. But u MUST use the inside of you foot!
you MUST. It makes life much easier to use the inside of your foot and not the toe. Just take your foot and kick the ball baka nd forth with a friend. Preparing the ball is also a big part. You must stop the ball wiht the inside of your foot and drag your foot bak a bit when you stop it. Do this so the ball doesnt go flying ten feet in front of you when u stop the ball.

I cant really explain how to keep the ball close to u. Just when you are dribbling tap the ball ion front of u lightly.

shooting: Always go for the corners. ALWAYS. you usually want to try to chip teh ball into the top right or left corner.
You should try to shoot at the oppostie side of teh goal you are on. If you are on teh left go for the right, right go for the left.

tricks: the marodonia, pull back, step over, and a lot more.
The pull back is simple. Take the ball and pull it backwards with your foot. simple enough. The step over isnt as easy to explain. Your must take your foot and lift it up over the ball. Then off course put it on teh ground in front of the ball and to the side a bit. Then swivel on your foot and trun aroundd with the ball and go! Learn tricks from team mates and friends.

the rules: Do not use your hands unless u r goalie! no punching or kicking. STay onsides which means u can not be between teh last defender and the goalie( on the opposite team). Those are some basic rules. I could go on forever about them, but i think you should know the rules.

Finally, find a team! Go out for travel soccer, school soccer, or anywhere u can play it! You msut be comited. Travel teams practice usually 3 times a week and have games every week. You must not skip practice with out calling or tellt eh coach y u can not come! Also, try your best and ALWAYS have gatorade or water. Also oranges are a good snack during halftime.

theres a lot more to know about soccer but you will learn that from your tteam. If i told u everythign it would take up like 3 pages. so............
good luck with your soccer troubles!
