Also, If the world would 'end' in 2012, Then I don't think anyone would care to explore information on Comet Holmes.
A) It wouldn't matter, because we would be 'dead' by 2012,
or B) the world would be non-exhistant and the comet would pass Earth.. ?

(I know, my question doesnt make sense) LOL. I Just find it hard to believe that in less than 5 years, all civilization would end due to an "Astronomical Order". And, What Astronomical Order could these *Scientists* be talking about.. ?

Seriously, G. What has this world come to? In my opinion, I think that the world will "End" far sooner. People take the planet for granted. Or, the war. Which is possible. Ehh. >_< People are so selfish in today's world..

Your right, it is a silly prediction but humans look for any way to make the future known or look for some sort of hint of whats about to come and try to put some logic behind it.
The Mayans were an advanced race and were capable of formulating advanced mathematics and chart out the stars. The Mayans predicted that the world will end in 2012 from a flood just based on the reason that the solar system or a certain group of stars were lined up in order. Just because the Mayans were advanced and were right on a number of things people think that they were correct on this prediction. I don't think so, personally I think a race so advanced wouldn't sacrifice millions of people to statues and their own kings.

Their are many theories, yet all and sundry has its flaws. We truelly won't be responsive to untill 2012. yet, for further info indexed under are a itemizing of theories. image voltaic flare- the magnetic poles will swich and a image voltaic flare will ocurr and our earth would be vulnerable. Planets alighning collectively- i'm not so confident in this concept, inspite of the undeniable fact that it rather is meant to decrease to rubble the gravity and reason the planets to collide God coming and taking the christians- precisely what's says Planet x- a planet is obtainable in our orbit(enormously not likely) ailment- a ailment kills human race nuclear conflict- nuclear conflict wipes out human race (we are heading in that course) The are all theories. do not difficulty, it rather is a collectively as formerly 2012. Their substitute into the comparable scare for yet another date approximately ten years in the past.

There would not be a sane scientist of any kind in the world, be they molecular biologist, analytical chemist, geologist or astronomer that believes this drivel.

Some damn fool or fraud has been predicting the end of the world (as we know it) based on one thing or another for about 1200 years or more. It's usually based on an ancient document like that load of crazed scribblings called "Revelation". They are always wrong.

In the past 200 years it seems to have become an American specialty as various Adventist, Witnesses and comet riders either head for the hills or suicide.

Now it's the ancient Mayan calendar. In 2000 it was the supposed 2000th anniversary of something that nobody knew for certain if it happened or exactly when if it did. In 2003 it was "planet X". At various times in the 19th and 20th centuries it was the Second Coming, which did not come about. Then further back it was the year 1000 and the year 1666 (1000 plus 666 geddit?) and so forth.

When Halley's Comet comes back, or at the appearance of the next big comet they will be at it again. Loonies, nutters, crazies, fools and frauds.

Hooray for you - someone with a sensible opinion of 2012.

I see you've also asked about the Y2K bug - another daft prediction that turned into a load of tosh.

Ah! common!

The reaction it gets is a nice indication of the dropping level of knowhow in the general population, and a tribute to the glorification of ignorance that is promoted by various social groups on this continent.

Look at how Y2k was blown out of proportion (and how many people got lots of money or ended up on a power trip because of it). Some people have seen and learned. Why can't they get their chance at controlling other people's minds through fear and ignorance?

There are people who need this to make their lives meaningful.

2012 is when some people think a polar shift is going to happen. A polar shift is, put simply, when the poles flip-flop and the needle on a compass points to where the penguins live. According to 'The Mystery of 2012' by various authors (about a third of them have Ph.D.'s) , before a polar shift there are rapid changes in weather patterns. Some believe that this is 'global warming.' These scientists think it unbelievable that the Mayans' calender ends right when they are predicting there will be a polar shift, and are getting all worked up about this. Another theory is that all the planets (including Pluto) will line up. I have no idea whether this is true or not, as some websites say this will happen in 2012 and others say this is absolute nonsense. Some say there will be a polar shift AND the planets will align. Still others say there will be an alien invasion! Nobody really knows what will happen in 2012, but it's a very hot topic, so keep your ears open!

No matter what happens in 2012, if it can change us now by installing fear or hatered in our hearts, then we have already lost the "rat race"

2012 is the end of the old world order, while the new one then start.

2013 is the New Era. 0001 N.E.

On the other hand, some might have miscalculated of translating the old Mayan dating into the Gregorian one and it actually started 4 centuries ago.

As for Global Warming.

Global Warming have existed for thousands of years since the ice age ended. Today the reason some area on Earth are deserts (both hot desert and cold desert) is because most area on Earth are still not warm enough, the warmth is still not equally distributed.

In short, Global Warming is no more worrying than 2012.
