A pencil is a writing tool, mostly used in schools. One end of a pencil is the writing part, you can draw, write words, scribble ect. and the other end of a pencil, (the soft pinkish part) is used to erase mistakes or whatever. The eraser can only erase marks made by pencils though. So don't try and erase a crayon, or pen! It's that writing device that you have to sharpen every now and then to keep it working properly. It is made of a graphite rod about 1/16 to 1/8 inch in diameter, enclosed in a wooden dowel about 1/4 inch in diameter and about 8 inches long. Most are yellow, and have an eraser on the back end. Used properly, you can draw a line 1000's of miles long using only one pencil.
