Respect, Love, and honesty. Good communication is a key. If you both have all of these then there should be reason to lie.

I desperately want to know the answer to this one too! My husband has lost my trust - and I have to try to act like everything is peachy all the time just because you can't talk about it every day. I don't believe him when he tells me what he is doing during the work day (he drives around town on his job). I have caught him in lies, internet stuff, not being where he says he is. All of it adds up to serious lack of trust that I don't think I will ever be able to get back. I want to - but when I bring it up - he wants to avoid it.
Hmmmm - I'm not a lot of help here huh - Sorry! I just feel for you. Once they lie to you - it seems like they just keep lying and it rips you apart and when they aren't lying you can't be for sure - so you still are being ripped apart..
My brain tells me to stick it too him the next time he lies and leave, but my heart says accept him as human and hope it doesn't get worse. ugh

If he feels he needs to lie to you then you guys aren't open enough. I have a feeling when he tells you something that he normally may not have or lies to you and you find out you berate him about it and he feels like he cant come to you with this information. Sometimes people aren't as upfront as we might like them to be with information but if they decide to renig on something they told you before i think it's commendable to them. What is he hiding? Is it marriage breaking? Or are you just making a big deal out of white lies? Men tend to lie about things they don't give a crap about that they think you might, just to spare themselves the lecture. Next time he confesses a lie. Even if you don't mean it, act like it's ok and don't bring it up again and say you just wanted the truth and its fine. He will begin to feel more and more comfortable coming to you with stuff he normally would have lied to you about. Don't get abused though, if he's lying about serious things then they're serious any way you look at it.

Men lie...women lie..u cant really keep someone from lying no matter how moral they are. Its just a part of life and something people should get used to. The problem would be if he's a compulsive liar.

His morals and values- If he has a moral standard and values his relationship with his wife he won't lie to her.
His actions also should keep him from lying to her- he shouldn't be partaking in anything that he would have to lie about.

A good wife who cares about him and talks to him. Treat him like a human and he should treat you the same. If you have a good relationship he will stay honest and if not then it's time to cash in.
