No, Ellsbury would have been the first player who hasn't had an "official" rookie season yet to win the MVP.
To the uneducated who answered this question: Jacoby Ellsbury was a September call-up and replaced one of the injured on the roster (Clement, Donnely) so he was able to play in the post season even though he was called up after 9/1. He has not had enough at-bats to qualify what he did this year as his rookie season so therefore the 2008 season WILL be his official rookie season. If he had won the MVP, and considering what he did it was a possibility (although a longshot w/ Papelbon & Okajima in consideration), he would have been the 1st in MLB history the win it before he had an official rookie season. Usually when there is a call-up on the Post season roster they don't make an impact like he did, they ride the bench and are used as pinch runners or defensive replacements. Credit Terry Francona for going against the norm and putting him in the line-up, it's decisions like that, that really show why he is an amazing manager.

No, no one has done that yet. You need 130 ab in the regular season to be qualified as a rookie in Jacoby Elisbery's situation he did not have 130 at bats this regular season meaning his true rookie season will be next year and if he had won the world series mvp he would have been the first.

Qbass, dude you rock with your answers, your always so dead on.
To the uneducated and bandwagon fans of baseball:
Ellsbury was not a rookie this year, for the simple fact he was called up, then sent back down to Triple A, called up again, sent back down.Blah, blah.
You have to play all 162 games of the season/be active on the roster to be acknowledged as a rookie.Take Pedrioa, 2007 was his rookie year, because he did not play a full season in 2006.
Look up your facts before you answer a question.

first of all it is possible because you have to play a certain amount of games to be consiered a rookie. the of for the red sox jacoby ellsbury was not a rookie but was plaing in the world series. so it is possible but it is rare. but to answer the question i doubt it because he would have to be on the team short enough to not be considered a rookie and he would have to play at least 8 innings in every game to have a realistic chance of winning and that is hard to do unless you are a vetern

I see what you're saying. He wasn't an official rookie. I don't know if anyone else has done that. This id the first time I've actually head of an "unofficial" rookie.

Nope....Do you mean IN their rookie season? Livan Hernandez did, although he played the year before and started one game. He was still a qualified rookie when he won his WS MVP award.

LOL! bulls did no longer even get to the third around during the 1994 playoffs. pippen replaced into an incredible participant at that element yet he wasn't purely the pass-to-guy form for the bulls at that element. the reason in the back of their achievement replaced into via fact they have been a properly balanced group. the problem replaced into, therre replaced into no guy who'll score in streaks for the bulls. pippen replaced into greater ideal on the shielding end particularly than the offensive end. plus, if pippen replaced into better than jordan, he would've gained yet another identify or so after jordan retired 1998. yet he did no longer applicable? and did he gained any scoring titles? he did no longer. the closest he have been given to triumphing a championship replaced into the year they misplaced to lakers in the western convention finals in game 7.

those answers are not true but I don't know if it has ever happened you have to play a certain amount of games to be considered a season if a player was brought up from the minors to play say due to an injury & hit a grand slam & made some awsome plays during the series they could award him with the MVP NEVER HEARD OF IT HAPPENING THOUGH
