First, you need a goth clique. A solo goth is just a weirdo.
Make friends, then slowly adopt their style. Don't be too obvious about it, go slow and subtle. If you just show up one day without your pocket protector, in all black and eyeliner, they will ignore you as a poser.
Although, why you would want to make the transistion is beyond me. At least nerds get some respect for their intelligence.

just be yourself. Don't concentrate on being worried if people think you're a nerd or wanting to be a Goth, or whatever. Just wear what YOU want to wear, listen to the music that YOU like,etc. After a lifetime of wanting to be someone else; bouncing from clique to clique to find an identity, but never fitting in anywhere, i finally learned to be MYSELF and have my OWN identity. And i ended up finding that i'm somewhere between a Geek and a Goth, but i'm happy with who i am, WHATEVER i am because all that really matters is that i'm ME.

It doesnt matter, because your obviously either in junior high or high school, and eventually you will grow out of it,realizing that your niche in school has nothing to do with your future or your career, which is what you should be focusing on in the first place. Im not trying to insult, Im just being honest. I never worried about that stuff. I personally dislike people who need to be a certain way to feel accepted. It is sad. Sometimes there is a psychological reason, sometimes they are just immature(again not an insult), but I hope that you make the "right" choice.

Didn't you ask a question similar to this? Simple, get interested in Goth subculture. Thats all there is to it. If you're not interested in that, and just dress the part, you'll be a "poser". Posers are worse than any nerd. =P

well you want to be goth or a metalhead? most poeple can't tell the diffrence so for goth get a black trench coat black combat boots white face paint and more black clothes
for a metalhead get some baggy bandage pants band T-shirts cd's like Avenged Sevenfold, Killswitch Engaged and FiveFinger Death Punch

the fact that you asked this confirms the latter..
a nerd is respected for being what he truly is.
a goth is a person thinking they are being anti-conformed and think depression is cool, when in reality they conform to one another with all black and stupid haircuts, contradicting their whole philosophy. stay as a nerd, it will pay off.

start wearing all black all the time and act gloomy! no more homework! for examples check out the goths on southpark : )
