Soft blankets, soft stuffed animals, books with "feel good" flaps- different textures and shapes.
I just though of this- at Target they have Rainbow makers. You hook it up in any room near a window and it makes bright rainbows bounce across the walls. This would be so fun for a little baby to watch. They are about $20.00

My cousin purely had a splash one. you should get the newborn a lovable outfit, possibly try 6-9 months or something cos the newborn would have an incredible variety of outfits for 0-4 months yet in all probability hardly any for 6-9 months! Nappies are great and are continuously necessary! lol A lovable decoration or something tremendously? I have been given my cousin some physique spray- Sara Jessica Parker-stunning. And a impressive present from l. a. senza. mothers opt for presents too, the newborn gets an incredible variety of the presents.

4 month old babies can't do much interaction but they are very intrigued with lights and sounds so stick to those sort of toys. You can buy her a bear that tells stories called T.J. Bearytales. It's $50 at walmart or target and it moves it's mouth and eyes like it's really telling the story. It's meant for children 2 years and up but i got it for my son at 5 months and he's loved it since. (he's now 1.5 yrs.) It's also good for the parents if they are occupied and can't read to your neice themselves.

Clothes and appropriately aged toys. They usually have the age the toy is good for on the box.
Actually, a bank account is a good idea or maybe some stock. I know my brother went online for my oldest niece, who's now 11, and got her a single share of Disney stock. It's framed and hangs in her room still and she gets all the letter inviting her to the shareholders meetings and so forth like any other shareholder. I don't know the actually site address but it was something just for single stocks in companies. Try Googling it.

A 4 month old isn't going to care. Ask her mother what the baby might need in terms of clothes or toys.

I like the bank account idea. put in $50 then get her a stuffed animal with the other $10. then every occasion like holidays and birthdays you can add to the account for when she is older and she can use that money towards college or a car or getting her own place. I wish someone whould have done that for me when it came time for me to go to school.

She is 4 months old... she won't remember if you did or did not get her anything. Get the parents something that will make their life easier. Like a night out on the town and you babysit... I do like the savings accont idea. Put it in a E-Bond... she turns 18 and can cash it out.

A bank account is a great idea, but I always get a teddy bear when I need a present for a baby.

You could get her a nice collection of story books that her parents can read to her from as she gets older. Everything that she needs right now is provided for her, so it would be lovely to give a timeless gift that can be used for years, and possibly shared with her own children.

Get her a Christmas ornament with her name engraved on it. Her parents can use it to decorate every year, and she can use it to decorate her own tree when she grows up. If you want to be fancy,Tiffany's sells a crystal rocking horse ornament for $65 this year, but I don't think it can be engraved.
