I'm confused about the moon landing?

Question

Supposedly we landed on the Moon in 1969, but how did we get there? The space shuttle launch videos show the shuttle going up into the sky, but you would have to dig through the ground to get out of Earth.

Is this the main reason that people don't believe that we landed on the Moon?

Wow. Just when I thought that I'd seen it all. I don't even know where to begin.

If you dig all the way through the Earth, assuming that you can survive the heat and pressure, you'll just wind up on the other side of the planet. To go to space, you need to move away from the Earth at a high velocity. The space shuttle wasn't even around during the Apollo era; to get to the Moon, NASA used the Saturn V rocket. The reason that some people don't believe that the landings were real is because they are extremely ignorant of basic science.

Pull my other leg. It whistles "Dixie". I'm aware of what some Hindu sects eg Hare Krishna say about the Moon and landings on it and they are flat wrong.

The Americans were able to land on the Moon in 1969 and later because it is fairly close and because they built the most powerful and reliable 3-stage heavy lift rocket that has ever been seen.

Just because some technology was built in the past does not mean it was primitive and had low capability. This is specially true of mechanical devices and a rocket is essentially a mechanical device.

For instance the diesel locomotives that replaced steam locomotives in the 1950s had only half the power of some of the locos they replaced. In some cases it was a third or a quarter of the power.

There are one or two preserved battleships in the US Navy which could not be built now, the facilities which built them no longer exist.

The major reason that people don't believe that Apollo 11 landed on the Moon is the current lack of regular manned flights to the Moon, even today unmanned flights to the Moon are still rare things. If manned flights to the Moon is like taking a ride on the Concorde, maybe some will not be so skeptical.

Plus there's suspicious sudden stop of more Moon attempts by the U.S.A., the U.S.S.R., the P.R.C., and so on in the 70's.

The U.S.S.R. if they're really involved in a Cold War and a Space Race, would have still continue on Moon attempts, and definetly NOT done an Apollo-Soyus docking mission.

YES thats right dig a big hole and tunnel to the moon...or build a very large rocket and blast up and away through that other tough stuff air.
For a wonderful array of information on space, moon landings, info about the planets etc. try Nasa.gov, or maybe thats just a hoax web site put up to pull more wool over our eyes.
In fact now I come to think about it, does the moon actually exist or is it just a big light bulb put up by hollywood movie execs?

Let's see, low level paranoia can be treated with the following medications:

Promazine, Chlorprothixene, Thioridazine, Mesoridazine.

None of this is OC, so you have to see a psychiatrist. If you tell him that you have this nagging feeling that the moon landing was staged and that it interferes with your life because you feel a constant urge to tell people on Yahoo Answers about it, he will most likely agree to get you started on some therapy and some meds.

The ground digging part is funny. Let me know how long it takes you to hit on the moon by digging a hole with a shovel.

This person has 10% best answer. God knows what this person can answer questions on. It defies belief that he/she can think you have to dig through the Earth to get into space.

It’s a ball, mate. We scurry around on the surface like germs on the skin of an apple. To get into space you go anywhere away from the ball – can’t you think of a fly taking off from a basketball? Whether the fly takes off from the bottom, top or middle, it has to go away from the ball.

There is no up and down in space – our up and down is purely the pull of gravity trying to pull us to the center of the big ball we live on. So, wherever you are on Earth, to go to space, you go up, away from the center.

Jeez, your education is sad, sad, sad.

What the heck are you thinking when you look up at the moon – you don’t look through the ground, do you? Or do you think at all?

The Saturn rocket that launched the moon astronauts was much bigger and taller than the shuttle rocket. Look at the diagram in the source below to get an idea.

what are you talking about. you don't dig through the earth to get to space. you go straight into the air and through the sky and into space. Then you orbit the moon and land. then you take off from the moon (very little gravity so its much easier) fly toward the earth, orbit, enter the atmosphere, crash into the ocean with parachutes.

the only people who even evaluate that the Moon landings have been a hoax are terminally stupid, so there extremely are not different extreme documentaries on the priority. comparable reason there are not different documentaries on the great Bowl Hoax of 2011. sure, it style of feels the great Bowl replaced into filmed with CGI in a warehouse in Hoboken. All those people who say they have been "at" the activity have been paid off via the President of the NFL. do no longer even ask suitable to the 0.5-time preformers... yet just to grant you a sprint... think of "techniques-administration".

Dude,first-we don't dig through the Earth to launch into Space(how old are you,anyway?)You spelling is good,so I figuer at least 10 years old,so maybe you can grasp this...check it out-in order to convince modern man that we made it to the Moon,but didn't,would consist of about 100,000 liars with false proof e.g. false scientific data,photos,film and testimony,not too mention everyone involved in the space program from then to now who can keep a secret,believe me young Jedi,not that many people can keep a secret like that,somebody(s) would have come forward with credible info disproving our claim,that hasn't happened.Good Luck in your quest for the truth....
