I thought it was time last week. Lane Kiffin has to make the call. At 2-6 in the AFC we have no choice. He's surrounded by veterans to have his back, our line is a lot better besides Sims and his penalties, it will spark our whole team. I say put him in and limit his passes to about 10-15 a game and put the ball in Fargas, Rhodes, and Jordan's hands. Defenses wont be ready for that 75 yrd. bomb. He can also take some shots with his physique. The time is now, McCown and Culpepper proven they cant get it done so u move on to the next guy, and that happens to be a 265 lbs. 6-6 1st overall pick. Look at what young and roethesberger did their first season. He could potentially be better. What are your thoughts with Chicago coming to Oakland, keep in mind its not the same D as last year.

I agree that they should give Russell a start. Against Chicago is a decent time to do it, as they are not even close to the same defense since Ron Rivera left.
I know you don't want to throw a guy in too soon and let him lose confidence with a couple of bad outings, and I also know that the raiders are basically out of the playoff running, but you don't draft a guy #1 and pay him like that to watch Culpepper and McCown play on Sunday.

By holding out as long as he did Russell virtually guaranteed he would see little to no playing time this year. If they thought Russell was ready then they would not have gone back to McCown who really has not done anything to justify being the starter.

While Young and Roethlisberger had strong rookie seasons they also had the benefit of having training camps under their belts where they got regular reps and the opportunity to develop some chemistry with the offense. Since Russell is not starting he is not getting regular reps in practice he probably has not progressed enough to where the coaching staff feels comfortable throwing him out there for a full game.

I couldn't agree with you more. The time is now. The Raiders have no shot to win with McCown or Culpepper. At least develop Russell now, it's not like he can lose any more games than the other two. He'll mature faster if he is actually playing in games.

yea i agree with you. culpepper isnt doing the job, they only signed him for one year....what i would use him for is kinda like a teacher...because you have all this young talent and they would be a lot better with an experienced veteran teaching them the skills of a quarterback. so ya let russell in....that way he can lean from his mistakes early in his career

I watched him play at LSU, and cannot wait to see what he can do in the NFL. I will watch the raiders as soon as he starts playing.

Absolutely, the sooner we play him the sooner we will see what a huge mistake we made in mortgaging the franchise for him.

Yes,

Put him in. They can't do any worse. Hopefully the line will protect him.
