i had sex for the first time 8 days after starting b.c.p. we used a condom too. on the instructions, it says that its effective after 7 days. and the planned parenthood site says that too and it says if you start within 5 days of the start of your period, its effective immedietly. i couldn't ask my doctor because my mom phoned them in over the phone.

question is, is the way i did it safe? i usually know when i ovulate, and i don't think i did this month.

By my calculations, you made yourself about 190% safe from pregnancy (given 95% safety for condom and pill each) and 99.9% safe from any std. So to answer your question, yes you did it VERY safely especially since u still used a condom as precaution.
The b.c.p. makes your body think you are pregnant, so therefore you're not supposed to ovulate since you cant if you're pregnant right

It all depends on your pills, yes the way you did it does sound safer. but please remember that there is no 100%. You still could get pregnant, your best bet, would actually be to wait for a whole month while you are on the pills. get your period, then on your second month, if you choose to then do it then. Also, my advice would be never to have sex 5 days after you start your new pack, there first 5 pills are the most important. Because these days you are so important, if you miss them and then had sex, that could be a cause for a scare. Remember also, if you have forgotten a pill, had nausea or diahera, always use another form of b.c with the pill.

Remember to be careful, and be sure this is what you want.

Since you used a condom and the pill then you have basically no chance of being pregnant, unless the condom broke.

You do not ovulate while you are on the pill so if you have been taking it correctly since your period you should be fine

You should be ok.. especially if you used a condom. My doctor told me that after starting BCP i should wait at least a month for it all to kick in a work properly. Provided that you used the pill properly you should be ok.

Just keep using condoms for a while to help prevent against pregnancy but against STD's as well
