Sometimes I will pace along side someone else so that the person tailgating CAN'T pass, until they back off or they manage to get by somehow. Other times I just keep my pace, move over if I'm in the left lane and let them pass.

Multiple lanes - get right and wave the tailgater by.

Single lane, wave the tailgater by.

Not really my style to slam brakes or go slower than the posted just because some ****** is riding my rear bumper.

Thanks for the deuce.

When you are going the speed limit in the left lane, there is no reason for us to tailgate you in the first place! Enjoy braking, because when I pass you and get in front of you, I will make sure to brake and drive real slow too, just to show you how annoying it is...

As for us "crazy drivers" who are going the speed limit all we want to do is get to work and home on time...

ease up off the gas and sort of coast... not brake though. Hopefully by me slowing down, they will realize how close they are riding. If this person is really in a hurry to get where they are going, they will pass you. I feel tailgating is rude and very unsafe. So basically I try to 'get them back' by going even slower. :)

If moving into the lane to the right to let them pass is an option, I do so. If not, I slow down slightly, and then accelerate to put a more comfortable distance between us. Sudden braking is dangerous and will just piss them off, but one or more cycles of gentle slowing and accelerating usually either gives them the idea or annoys them enough to persuade them to go hang on someone else's bumper.

I let my tires drift onto the double yellow line...the loose gravel and cinders tend to gather there, and after the tailgater gets his nice paint job sprayed by small rocks for a few seconds, he usually takes the hint and backs off.

hit the brakes. not enough to slow me down, but enough for my brake lights to come on and scare the crap out of the tailgater.

I look for a way to get out of their way. They might have a medical problem or some other emergency. Trying to agitate them will do NO good. If they happen to be idiots slowing will not help and might send them over the edge. Where does that get you?

Depends.

-You can blast your winshield wiper fluid
-Jam your breaks (only do this if you have a crappy car)
-Drive slowly. Particularly if there are 2 lanes, you are passing someone, and he/she is trying to get around the car in the slow lane. Then just go reaaaal slow and take all day to pass.

Or just move over, let them pass, and get on with your life.
