Whether you see one or a hundred of those lawn signs for a candidate for public office, do they influence you one way or the other when it comes time to vote?

If you see a display like this in front of a polling place, what is your reaction? [Note: The signs ARE far enough from the polling place not to be in violation of any laws.]

They don't influence me at all. I know long before heading to the election booths who and why I'm voting.

Those signs do however irritate the life out of me. They tend to make me cranky when I see a gazillion lined up. I guess maybe what they are doing is reminding me that there are actually people out there that pull the election levers willy nilly. Tra la la, I'll play iny miny mite mo and see who I should vote for.... That is why those signs make me nuts. They remind me that those kinds of voters actually exist. I've been a flag waving registered voter since I was 18 and I take that privilege seriously.

Ahh Sam, you got me on my soapbox... better get back to work. I owe, I owe so off to work I go....brides to deal with and albums to make...

I don't think so. For this election, I know the candidates and what they stand for. I'm going to review at lunch because there are 10 candidates for city council and 6 positions.
I see the signs, of course but it seems to be all they do is get the name out. I hope more people than not actually look to see what the candidate stands for. I don't care who my neighbors or friends are voting for. I'm not a sheep.

Not me, personally. But I research the candidates beforehand.

Here's how I think yard signs influence elections:

People who vote without doing their research are more inclined to vote on name recognition. If they have seen yard signs all over town for a certain candidate, that name is top-of-mind, and they are more likely to pull the lever for that candidate.

Not really. Just let's me know which neighbors are complete idiots and which ones have similar political views. Every time I see a Bush/Cheney sticker on a car I want to ram my car into them. These people are the reason our country is in it's current state.

Signs are just a way to advertise your name. It does not influence my decision one way or the other. Peoples minds are pretty much made up before election time. I say "save the paper".

Absolutely NOT! I think they trash up a perfectly nice lawn, get blown away with the wind, get switched by juvenile pranksters, are a waste of money, and don't mean a hill of beans about the candidate.

The only way they influence me is make me realize there is too many for me to be bothered reading up about them all so I end up not voting.

No, what matters is what the candidate offers, not his signs. I just think that this many signs just cause visual pollution.

I think they influence people who haven't taken the time to research the candidates.

They annoy me so I'm less likely to vote for that candidate.
