It just seems to get earlier every year, and now preparations last for two months. by the time it is here I am glad it is over. I am not a Bah Humbug person, but it seems it is getting out of hand.

Last year I saw Easter eggs in the supermarket just after Christmas! This year I have to work in A&E so I will wear my Santa hat and try to smile a lot while missing my family and dinner.

I'm not Bah Humbug either but at 60 years old I can't help but wonder what the heck has happened? I don't see the need to start hearing Christmas music in November. We know it's coming so why the rush? It's a known fact that Christmas is one of the most depressing times of the year for a lot of people so why start pushing it on us so early?

I really don't pay attention to any of it. I shop all year. When I see something one of my kids or grandchild might like, I buy it then and there.....especially if it's on sale.
I tuck them all away until a coupla weeks before Christmas when I get out the wrapping paper and wrap everything at once - sometimes over 2 days.
The only "last minute" shopping I do is for gift certificates.
But then, I have all my baking done and in the freezer before Thanksgiving. I don't send out Christmas cards except to family and close friends so no rush there.
I love the Christmas season and would prefer my attention be focused on the month of December - not October....so I just ignore all the trappings before then.

It does seem to get started earlier every year. I will admit that I am a bit of a bah-humbug person, but I do enjoy Christmas - in December! Things have become to commercialized and I think that is what has given me my bah-humbug attitude. I don't start decorating until after the first week in December.

I look forward to Christmas each year purely for the great family togetherness. What a beautiful sight, to look at the faces of my sons & their families, & see their smiles, knowing they're enjoying the family time as well. I love to give rather than receive & always have. It's a shame that Thanksgiving isn't even here yet, & Christmas decorations, etc. fill the stores already. The true meaning of Christmas has been lost, it seems, due to too much commercialism. It's all about the money. Remember when Christmas carolers went from house to house to spread the Christmas cheer?

I love Christmas! I start thinking about what I am going to buy for people right around Halloween and do my major shopping on Black Friday. I don't think it gets earlier every year. Every year we put up decorations the weekend after Thanksgiving and so does the rest of my family. I may want to put up the stuff early but i always hold off until then. To put them up before Thanksgiving would seem weird. Like skipping a holiday.

OK! I usually wait to the week before Christmas to decorate and buy presents so I don't go over budget. Now, after seeing what everyone thinks, I am going to start on my decorating right now. Then I can relax about having to do it when it is colder. For Christmas, I 'm going to dig up my change out of my coffee can and give everyone a set of coins made the year they was born. Maybe I won't be so stress out and can enjoy Christmas like I did as a child with every thing done.

I can hear you on the stores front..they have started early this year..I noticed at target that the last isle next to the wall Christmas ornaments were put out already in late September..I guess stores are going early this year, for the fear that we might not spend money and make them profits...as homes are not selling and people are going broke again...However, I think they all make money one way or another, eventually we all go out and buy something for Christmas. I love Christmas time though...and you know what I fell for the trap, I have already bought presents for Christmas gifts....I always love the end of Christmas though for the clearance prices on decorating items...so that I can use them the next year...so I do always look forward for December so that I can decorate..I actually do it the day after Thanksgiving, so I guess I am rushing it too...

I'm turning into a Bah Humbug person. I wish we could just take one holiday at a time. I hate seeing Thanksgiving getting bullied by Christmas. There was a time when Christmas didn't grace the stores until December... now we see Angels of the Lord along side Halloween mummies. What the.......????

It is amazing to me, as well, to see Christmas ornaments, etc. being marked down 50%, before Halloween! Store managers tell me that it is because Thanksgiving is not a great sales holiday for most small stores. That not being one, they go directly to Christmas, and Christmas, of course, is a money maker for most stores. I do wish that the stores would wait on Christmas 'selling'. Of course, this is the land where we all have our pay checks because things do sell. I find that decorating my home for Thanksgiving, gives me a real 'hold' on the Christmas decorations. Then, I remember, that the children are all so excited with all the decorations for each season, that I can just muddle through, and enjoy the enchantment of the little guys.

Yeah - I agree. I work in retail and they are already playing that sentimental Christmas music so by the time Christmas is here I'll just about have had enough by then! I don't like it because we tend to go from Halloween to Christmas when Thanksgiving means so much more than Halloween anyway but we skip right over that - I guess so we can keep complaining about everything that is wrong in life instead of taking a break and focusing on how good we actually have it!
