But you are a random person saying hi to random people. If a stranger says hello to me I dont say hello back as you dont know what may unfold. However when I come to work and say hello to people I work with and they ignore me I think that is downright rude and uncalled for.

yes my Son's gf she will walk up in my house and not speak she has no home training. I thought it was cause she is white and have never been taught that you never walk in someones home and not speak so I told her she isn't allowed up in here if she can't speak. That's rude

I'm kind of like that. I try not to be rude about it,though. if someone talks to me, i'll talk to them, but i never start talking first (unless it's with family or my boyfriend or someone i feel comfortable and safe enough to be myself around). Sometimes people take it like i'm stuck up, but i'm just shy and never feel i have anything interesting to talk about that people want to hear...

Yes I know someone like that - she only wants to be friends when it suits her needs. Somehow it never seems to suit me though ;o)

Just ask them for their opinion occasionally, make them feel involved a little more.

Carry a gun. Point it at them and say, "if you say hello a won't shoot". That should do the trick.
