With Cingular alone, I never had any dropped calls, always got my text messages and voice mails promptly. Ever since the merger, I get constantly failed calls, dropped calls, and I don't get alerted until hours later that I have a voicemail/missed call/text message. this merger was the worst thing Cingular could have ever done.

Yep, that's why I switched to Verizon when my contract ran out. Not only was the call quality not as good, but the customer service was horrible, also.

FYI, I was with AT&T before the merger...Seems like neither company benefited from the merger!

You may want to go in and get a new Sim card. There have been quite a few people that have had simlar issues and a new Sim seems to fix the issue. If you go to a Corporate owned store they will set you up with a new one for free. Some authorised retailers charge for new sims so you want to check first. If you don't know whether it is a Corporate or Authorised store, see if they carry the iPhone. Only Corporate AT&T stores have the iPhone for sale in store.

On a side note, Cingular was actually acquired by AT&T in 2005. They only recently changed the named. So your service issues really don't have anything to do with anything recent unless you have had the problem for over a year.

I never had any problems until recently. As you said, my text messages are sometimes delayed for hours!
