Here is the question...
There are two cars: an old truck and a fairly new car. The truck currently has 16 times as many miles on it as the car had when the truck had 3 times as many miles as the car has now. Between now and then, each vehicle has been driven the exact same number of miles. The truck has not yet been driven 100,000 miles. All mileage amounts are in thousands. How many miles has the car been driven now?

x – present mileage of the car
y – present mileage of the truck
z – mileage difference between now and then

Solve
y = 16 (x – z)
y – z = 3 x
where x, y and z are natural numbers and y<100

These Diofantic equations have single solution
x = 17, y = 64 and z = 13.

Answer: New car has 17 thousand miles, old truck has 64 thousand miles.
