No, they will NOT leave. That is their home and will always be. Hockeytown is like no other and if they leave, they will not find the hard die fans that are located in Michigan. Trust me, there are no other hockey fans like those in the Motor City, i know better...i currently live in Texas, but i practically grew up 30 mins from Detroit.

Them not selling out their games just means that something needs to be done in order for them to win another Stanley Cup. It's been a while since they won it and they have been knocked out from the playoffs for the last few years so the fans want more.

The team has just gone through some hard changes lately, especially with Yzerman gone and a few other idols.

I hate how they have been releasing some articles these last few days about how there is another Hockeytown....Carolina?....please!!. Detroit, HOCKEYTOWN, is where the real hockey magic happens. The passion that you find there you cannot find anywhere else.

No they wont move,
they are here to stay for a LONG LONG LONG (hopefully getting the point) TIME!

They are still selling seats at the Joe and selling a lot of the merchandise so i don't think it will be a problem in the future.

I know everyone is talking about the economy but in the long run everything will turn out good! ( I sure hope so) lol

Attendance would have to hit near rock bottom numbers for consecutive years before such a move would even be considered (which would never happen to an original six team let alone Detroit). There's a big difference between not selling out and low attendance numbers. A team's financial budget is not based on numbers that are indicative of selling out (even further proven by LITY's two sellouts over six years fact).

The Detroit Red Wings only sold out 2 games in the last 6 years of the Olympia (240 home games)....and the team stayed put.

To further add to earlier.
The Detroit Red Wings have the 2nd largest TV deal in the NHL (behind MSG) and the 3rd largest amount of corporate sponsorship (behind Toronto and Montreal). These two values account for almost 80% of the Red Wings payroll. Add in what they get from merchandinsing, and the Vs and NHIC deals, this team can afford to play in front of empty seats and still turn a profit!

No you have to realize that the JL is one of the biggest if not THE biggest arena in the league, it may not be as big a market as Toronto, but it's still drawing more fans that most of the teams, and that's regular, not occasional as some of the fairweather fans do. This is a blip, not a trend.

innovations-blowing question. in all probability no longer. I mean, off the right of my head you will could say: Orr, Gretzky, Mario, Morenz, Rocket Richard, Lafleur, Beliveau, hall, Plante, Hasek and Gordie Howe...and that i've got in no way even pronounced Bobby Hull yet. Yzerman replaced into an incredible participant yet replaced into he an icon exterior of Detroit? replaced into he ever seen the very applicable participant in the NHL? close yet no cigar. If the Waymer and Mario weren't around, in all probability Stevie Y would be seen #a million...yet even Stevie Y would agree he's no longer as sturdy as his idol #19 Bryan Trottier.

Not a chance will an 'O 6' team leave. To the first guy that said that Detroit is the only city losing population. No it is not. Buffalo is hemorrhaging population more than Detroit is at the moment. That is why they will most likely lose the Bills in the next couple of years.

i personally dont think its a matter of the economy.. i think its mostly how they have been doing the past few years.. while winning the cups they repeaditly were selling out.. they have done all that great in the playoffs in a long while.. i believe i read that that they havent sold out in 6 years.. last time wings won was 01-02. its now 08.. i think the wings decline in attendence is due to poor tansactions done by red wings executives and ken holland..

Just as the Flyers will never again win the Cup with Ed Snider at the helm, the NHL will never be without the Detroit Red Wings.

It will not happen.

Detroit without the Red Wings is like nachos without salsa, me without a pickup truck, a fish without water, Texas without a Conservative, Britney without headlines, TV without trash, rap without profanity, skiing without ski's, skydiving without a parachute, an astronaut without a diaper, Hilary without duplicity, a Philadelphia sporting event without a "boo", New Jersey without stink, Sea World without Shamu, Benny without the Jets, Winnipeg without the Jets, Sci-Fi Channel without sci-fi, HDTV without the HD, or the TV, trying to start the bike with the gascock off, a fishtank without the fish, a copier without toner, the Spurs without Tim Duncan, me without coffee, witch without the hazel, band without the aid, Yahoo answers without the Thumbs Down Junkies, the Hockey Category without "Who's gonna win the Cup?" once per day, and Led Zeppelin without John Bonham.

You see, it just won't work.

It'll never happen, keep dreaming.

Have the Blackhawks left Chicago yet? NO. And they never will either.

They are still Drawing 17,000+ fans at each game, which is still plenty.

So unless the Detroit river floods all of south eastern Michigan they are there to stay.
