How can I get a jammed DVD drive to close again on an Acer Aspire 1670 laptop?

I have a 3 year old acer aspire laptop and suddenly the DVD drawer has stopped closing and i now permanently stuck at half open

Hit it with a hammer, and if that doesn't work hit it with a bigger hammer.

I do know on a Desktop their is a small hole under the drawer. If you have the same on your Acer insert the end of a paper clip or something small enough to go into the aperture to release the gubbins. Might be worth a try.
