Fossil intermediaries have been found between fishes and amphibians and between reptiles and birds. In other words,

1. existing fossil records do support natural selection.
2. existing fossil records do not support natural selection.
3. existing fossil records support evolution.
4. existing fossil records do not support evolution.

What plays a big role in the process of speciation?

1. convergence
2. divergence
3. both a and b
4. none of the above

According to Darwin,

1. fossils cannot help us determine how species evolved.
2. there is overwhelming evidence from fossils that living species did not evolve from organisms that are extinct.
3. there is overwhelming evidence from fossils that many of today's living species have evolved from organisms that are extinct.

1 - Existing fossil records support evolution.

If you can see something between a bird and a reptile, it's a good clue that a bird might have evolved from a reptile, slowly, in stages.

3. Convergence and Divergence

Divergence is when one species splits into two new species. This might happen because a population got split in two for a very long time, and then afterwards the two groups find that they can't interbreed anymore because they are too different.

Convergence is when two different species come together and make one new species. This happens a lot in plants, for complicated genetic reasons to do with how many chromosome copies there are in cells.

3. There is overwhelming evidence from fossils that many of today's living species have evolved from organisms that are extinct.

This is for the same reason as the first question - Darwin was the first person to notice this.

Darwin is wrong. We did not evolve. If that were true, there would not be monkeys any more and same with other species. There are no right answers to these question. Is this for a test?Sorry, you're screwed. How can they make you give a correct answer on a therory? Why do they pass this crap off as fact????(Not a beleiver of creationism either)Sorry.

That's your "OMG I NEED HELP!!!"? That's your burning question?

Is someone holding a gun to your head? I can picture it: "Quick, tell me about fossil intermediaries and speciation or I'll blow your head off!"

Clearly divergence. In class, your lecturer should have told you that. Common ancestor then divergence.
I'm not sure about that Darwin fella though...
