my laptop turns on and off constantly when i press the power button?

have a compaq pressario c306 US and when i turn it on within 10 seconds it turns back off ive tried pressing f11 and going to safemode but it cant even get there it just keeps going in a cycle of restarting what can i do i really need help ive tried taking the ram chip out allready and sometimes it fixs the turn off thing but then my screen ius black and i cant see anything

Take the battery out and try running it directly off of the ac adapter's power without the battery.

Also, try clearing the CMOS...you might have to contact HP and ask them how.
