How often can you turn on the TV and not be bombarded with the woes of humanity? When was the last time you've watch the news and not heard about murder, violence or crime? It's kind of depressing. With all the drama in the "real" world doesn't something fun and fantastic sound appealing? If for nothing else people get to see their favorite childhood heroes brought to the big screen and create a means for escape from the somber everyday lives that we may lead. I realize that there are people out there whom have extraordinary lives but the average population does not. And what better way to take a break for a couple of hours than to get lost in some completely over the top fantasy where the good guys nearly always win?!

Spiderman is the only crap movie you listed here.....hmmmm

As for why transformers and star wars are worth watching...that's easy. Transformers (for the children of the 80s like me) it's a nostalgia type of thing. It was done really well from what I remember from watching it when I was little.
Star Wars was ground breaking. and continued to be with each new movie that it released. Sometimes the plot blew *ss, but it was put together very well and constantly challenged everyone's notion of what could and could not be done with a movie. That in itself makes it worth watching.

Cause the little fanboys and fangirls in us yearn for movies like this to be good! Seriously though, I liked Spiderman 2 and Star Wars (the last three, not the newer three) and I didn't like the Transformers but I did like the 80s one. :)

those three specifically remind certain people of how it was for them to be young and not have a single care in the world. remembering how they used to get up every saturday morning to watch spiderman and eat their cereal. star wars was an intergalatic movie that gave people real hope for a better tomorrow in the 70s. Transformers was on every afternoon and entertained millions of kids after school. wouldn't you want to go back to feeling like that?

Not all of those films are crap, first of all. Secondly, it is unfair to compare films of this genre to films that are intended to be more serious and weighty. You don't go to Spider-Man expecting to see Citizen Kane or Chinatown. You go to spend two hours being diverted and entertained. And some of these films do this job very admirably. There is nothing wrong with a movie that does nothing more than take you away from the real world for a little while. They are fun, and, in the end, isn't that all we ask of them?

I'd much rather watch those than the news, reality shows, an emotional chick movie, or a cooking show.
Besides, I spend a lot of time drawing and I can really appreciate the imagination behind movie characters and equipment.

those movies you listed may not be crap to other people. I like watching those movies. Movies you like i may not like and ones i like you may not like. But i might add though, Spiderman 3 sucked. Too much going on. They had too many villans in there...

Because we like eye candy. Those movies had some pretty fantastic special effects (even Star Wars - they were good for that time period), and we enjoy it when the effects are 'realistic' and impressive.

3-D makes no difference to the movie, as nicely making them come out at you. the story-line, characters, performing, and so on. will all be the comparable. in case you hated the 1st 2, then you certainly'll hate the recent 3-D re-launch. they're in basic terms re-liberating them in 3-D to earn greater funds.
