I want to install more RAM for my computer and I was wondering if one is comparatively faster than another.

If they are the same speeds, there is really no difference except for if you get the 2GB stick, you will have more slots open compared to if you get the 2x1GB sticks.

In a laptop you have 2 RAM slots. so you can use 1 2GB card or 2 1GB cards. You can also have 2 2GB cards, so effictively you can have 4GB ram . But you need to know what is the max RAM your sys supports. I do not think one is better then or faster than other.

1 2GB card will be technically faster than 2 1GB cards, not enough difference that you can time it with your watch or anything.

If you already have a 1GB card, I would just add another 1 GB because of the cost.
If say you only have 512MB, I would go ahead and buy the 2GB stick, it would be worthwhile then.

I think the major differences are the price and the slot usage, not the speed.

PC 6400 is faster than PC 3200....etc.(the higher the # the faster it runs info.) Make sure the MOBO will handle the faster one.
