80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.
To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

How have I answered this question the other 946 times I've seen it in here?
Oh, yes -- according to rabbits, the meaning of life is to eat a lot, have a lot of sex, and not get eaten by hawks, foxes, or pythons.
I'd say that's a pretty good meaning to life.

There is no single meaning, everyone has a different belief to why they are here even if it is that there is no reason!
Also, to whoever said "42"......Have you ever read or even watched Hitchikers Guide? Cause if you have then you would either know that the question was not "what is the meaning of life" or you are a bit or a dunce!

well, i believe that the meaning of life is like a game.. you play it and try to good stuff so then when you die.. you go to the other world that you worked for... its kind of a christian belief.. but its ok this is what i just think.. no one has to oppose this.. everyone has their own philosophy about life.. =)

Life is to be the best you can do in every avenue of your existence.
It is to live each day giving thanks for another chance to breathe.
It is to love to the fullest capacity of your very existence.
It is to lose that love.
It is to pick yourself up and move on with strength that you haven't previously found within yourself.
