I'm working on a project and need some classic sci-fi/horror movies of the 1950's. I've already got Plan 9 from Outer Space.

"The Tingler" with Vincent Price, still pretty scary today.
"Creature from the Black Lagoon".
"I Was a Teenage Werewolf" with Michael Landon.
"It The Terror from Beyond Space".
"Invasion of the Body Snatchers".

I'd highly recommend "The Day The Earth Stood Still". Despite the special effects, the movie is NOT cheesy. In fact, the story and acting are pretty good. What a shame that Hollywood is planning on doing a remake of this classic film.

For horror movies, you should also check out some of the old Universal monsters sequels to Dracula, The Mummy, The Wolfman, and Frankenstein.

Here you go from a guy that saw them in the theater before TV.
These are the classics that I can remember.
"Destination Moon" (1950)
"The Thing from Another World" (1951
"The War of the Worlds" (1953)
"This Island Earth" (1955)
"Invasion of the Body Snatchers" (1956)
"Forbidden Planet" (1956)

Here are some that are unremembered.
"It Came from Outer Space" (1953)
"Them!" (1954)
"Tarantula" (1955)
"It Conquered the World" (1956)

I can't remember any more right now, but I know there more.

"Plan 9" would be a classic of laughable grade-Z level stuff(by Ed Wood, known as history's worst director).

Some good 50s sci-fi flicks I can think of off the top of my head are "The Day the Earth Stood Still", "Them", "The Thing", "The Blob" (Steve McQueen's first starring role), and "Green Hell", to mention a few (especially the first, which is a classic, with its eerie music and still-famous quote "Klaatu barada nikto").

Good suggestions so far. Don't forget Forbidden Planet, the George Pal version of War of the Worlds, and of course, the original Godzilla.
