Why are human beings so cruel to children...............?

"The people most likely to die a violent death are babies under 1 year old, who are four times more likely to be killed than the average person in England and Wales."

Scary.

What makes a human being violently kill an infant?

Because people with rage and violence issues tend to be cowards and bullies and it is in their nature to direct it towards those who will not be able to fight back as it gives them a temporary feeling of power and a false sense of esteem which they lack. This is why the physically weaker members of society are those who are most often at risk from violence and aggression eg. women, animals and the weakest of all, children. Unfortunately it is incredibly hard to ensure that everyone entrusted with a child's care is suitable to do so, and we also have an underfunded and poorly thought out system of social care that means that many of the most vulnerable are also the most at risk. It is both unfair and scary, however there are no obvious easy answers. There is also the scary fact that many people who survive abuse can go on to become abusers themselves due to the emotional damage they have received,although this is neither an excuse nor a norm, but it helps perpetuate a vicious cycle. All very sad.

Honestly do not know,makes me ashamed to be human., one thing that really annoys me is that the NSPCC is a charity....they have to BEG for donations to stop this cruelty when our government just squanders money on pathetic things. How much money was wasted over the Fox hunting bill?, now do'nt get me wrong, I love animals too but NO WAY on this earth would I put the welfare of any animal in front of a child. I know this will offend some animal libbers but thats just the way I feel. We should get our prioritys right in this country

I know it's awful to think such young lives which haven't even developed yet cut be tragically cut short in the worse of circumstances,I guess some people just can't cope or need help when looking after and caring for children it's no excuse,but they may be in need of help from someone else or family members or a partner although I think it's awful for a child to suffer from this the parents may have been suffering themselves.What makes it worse is that the children are practically helpess to fight back for themselves as they are so little which I think is so cruel.

I don`t want kids, never have done I haven`t got the patience, at least I have the sense not to have them, some people only have them so they can get housing and more benefits and they don`t have to work, these people should get nothing, the law should change then they know they have to bring their own children up themselves, if by any chance any parent has thoughts of harming their child then they should get social servises involved, it might not be because they are a bad parent, just that they can`t cope, there is no need for child abuse nowadays

I believe its a lack of patience and the fact that children have no physical power over adults. Its a very sad thing, but unfortunately it happens all over the world. Infants and children are weaker and can not defend themselves. They look up to us adults as protectors and many of us fail them and choose to harm them. Not myself though, I have a beautiful 7 yr. old that I would die for. It makes me cry just typing this, to think that there are monsters out there that hurt such innocent, defenseless angels.

Basically no parenting skills. They enjoy the power over their victims and know they can't fight back. They abuse anything smaller than them ,children even animals because they can. Anybody can produce children but it takes someone special to be a mother or father.

Maybe the question should be what makes human beings so cruel. Human beings are the only species who kill for pleasure and delight in cruelty generally. Animals kill to survive, but humans are total predators.

Some people seem to have children just because that's the end result of having sex - they see no further than that and have no emotional or financial resources to care for them. It's a dreadful state of affairs and the result of the breakdown of family life over the past 20-30 years.
