I'm not a realy girly girl. I was raised with 4 brothers. I like to fish. I love dogs and, really, all animals. I'm not much of a cook unless it's relatively easy. I work for a pest control company and find it very interesting (office manager). I'm not a kid person. I like to read some, not a whole lot. I'm not a gardner.
And I'm a little bit of a loner. I love to travel and have done quite a bit. My son is on his own now. Does anyone have any suggestions on a hobby or something to give my life some purpose?
Please keep your rude answers to yourself. This is a sincere question for the Yahoo Answers Community. Thanks.

Try knitting! Everyone thinks its girly, but its really useful instead. You can knit things for cold days, for gifts, or you can just do it so that you have something to do with your hands.

Try puzzles! They're more fun with people, but if you do it yourself, there is a sense of accomplishment in finishing it and being able to either glue it together and hang it up, or rip all the pieces apart in huge chunks.

Try buying a gun, and going to a shooting range. This is especially fun in winter.

Try going swimming - a heated indoor pool is all that's usually available during the fall/winter, though.

Video games? Some people are against them, but there are some really fun ones out there - just don't spend ALL your time on them.

You can always get involved with a homeless shelter or food ministry or something. I've done that in the past, and it was an incredibly fulfilling pastime. Knowing you've helped others is so rewarding, and you can spend just about as much time as you want doing it, since those places pretty much always need help.

What about cooking? I'm not much of a cook, but I do like trying out new things. Maybe even start a club of some sort with your friends and try recipes and have each other for dinner once a week. That could be fun too! Good luck in your hobbies!

Since you enjoy animals so much, perhaps you could get into working with dogs. Or if there is a stable nearby, consider working there. Or you could volunteer at the local animal shelter.

Have you considered working in office management again? And perhaps eventually the company will need you to travel.

Have you ever tried drawing? If not, perhaps now is a good time to give it a shot.

For many years, an aunt and uncle of mine went RVing a lot. They deserved it, after spending so many years taking care of my great-grandmother before she died. That is an expensive hobby though.

Whatever you do, have fun!

Are you my long lost twin?? Because you just described me.
Here are some ideas:

Pick a few things you think you might like to try then take a class to see if its for you. That way, if you hate it, you're not out a whole lot of money. I took a stained glass class and I liked it. I like to paint and I want to move into ceramics and mosaics.

Since you like to fish and travel, why not combine them and take fishing trips?

Try some things you think you might not like as well, you may find that you love them. Get out of your comfort zone. Since your a loner, find someone to hang out with for a little while. I'm a loner too, but every once in a while its fun to get out there. Get involved in the community. Join a local human rights group or something like that. Or, since you like animals, volunteer at a pet shelter for a few hours from time to time. Have fun! good luck!

Could you expand on your interests? Give us a bigger list of things you enjoy. Have you ever thought about woodworking? I took woodshop in high school and have been doing ever since. It's a great feeling taking boards and turning them in to something beautiful. They usually have classes at community colleges that are relatively cheap. That's just an idea. Maybe since you traveled quite a bit you could do scrapbooking. They have some awesome computer programs for that or you could do it all by hand. I'm sure you have many pictures from your trips. Best of luck!

If there is scope to be a community volunteer, how about that?Like helping the old aged to take care of their daily life.
Or can you be a part of a charity work? You can also help the earth stay green by making a hobby of following environment friendy tips! Or learn to play any musical instrument?

I would suggest taking your focus off of yourself. Try volunteering at a cause you find worthy. Too much focus on the self skews our perspective.

If you want hobby suggestions, how about taking up an instrument?

Do you actually have a dog? You could try obendience or agility training with your pet. You could combine the hobby with dogs and traveling to competitions! Also, furthering your education could be fun too. Even if you do like your job.
