am asking this because my g/f just quit her job and wants to continue with 401k benefits and she was told she must call the 401k people directly, so we are trying to figure out what # we have to call to? please help

The company will supply her the contact information. I would strongly suggest she roll that 401K money out of the company plan into a qualified pension plan of her own at a discount brokerage....

The employer is directing you to call the investment agency which manages the 401K for the employer. Assuming your girlfriend got statements of status from the agency handling the funds, the phone number should be located there somewhere.

She should have some sort of statement of her account, and it should say who the company is to call. If not, she should ask her former employer, HR department if they have one.

The IRS will not be able to help her with that question.

Would depend on the company. It'll be a financial firm.
