UFO just means something flying that you cannot identify. By "aliens" are you meaning extraterrestrial life (ET's) as opposed to the people coming over the fence from Mexico? If you are meaning ET's, then yes, I believe there are other life forms in the universe, but I do NOT believe they have visited our little rock orbiting the sun.

Certainly I believe in UFOs. I've seen one. Of course what I saw i could have duplicated with some simple to build machines, and I saw the thing at night in Gainesville, Fla, home of the university of Florida. UF has lots of engineering types who could easily throw together a good hoax. My UFO tore accross the sky at night at what appeared to be an extremely high rate of speed, from a standing start. But this could be duplicated by quickly hauling down a balloon. To an observer at night, the effect would be the same.

So while I have definitely seen things I cannot identify, the requirements for interstellar travel are so absurdly high, that the idea that beings from another solar system would travel probably hundreds of years to get here and then do nothing, thats too laughable to be taken seriously. And that being the case, I see no reason to believe I saw an alien construction.

Are there aliens? Probably not. Read the wikipedia article of the Fermi Paradox. And read the article on the Rare Earth Hypothesis as well.

It really irritates me when people write about interstellar distances, the speed of light etc being a barrier to space travel. As great as the distances between stars are, and as challenging as interstellar travel is, history has proved time and time again that modes of travel once thought impossible sooner or later became possible. It would have taken our ancestors many months of even years to circumnavigate the globe, whereas now it can be achieved in little more than a day or less.

As recently as the twentieth century, there were people claiming that travel to the moon was impossible. In the 1960s sending probes to the outer planets was inconceivable, yet now we have sent probes into the deepest reaches of our solar system.

It took a mere 67 years to go from the Wright brothers' first powered flight to Neil Armstrong setting foot on the moon. Imagine what we could achieve in 10,000 years, 100,000 years or even a million years. It should not be surprising to anyone that there may be civilisations in existence elsewhere in our galaxy who are millions of years more advanced than we are. To suggest that interstellar travel could not somehow be solved by a civilisation with a million years or more of development stretches credibility in my view.

On last point, I see a lot of people cite the idea that astronomers are qualified to watch the skies and yet never see UFOs. I would simply answer that pilots are similarly qualified to be aerial observers by definition of their role and in fact are in a better position to observe UFOs than astronomers, by virtue of the fact that they often encounter them "face to face". And thousands of pilots HAVE reported encounters with UFOs, many of which defy prosaic explanations.

I would also like to find out how many astronomers have witnessed the F-117A stealth fighter, the Lockheed SR71 or even the legendary Aurora spyplanes? Not many, I'd wager. Am I to assume from this that these planes do not exist as well? Furthermore, it should be known that UFOs have been seen by the pilots of both stealth fighters and U2 spy planes.

UFO's are simply objects that fly, that haven't been identified. Strictly speaking, an aircraft that is far away is a UFO if I can't tell what it is.
Now, do I believe that beings from another planet have been here? Absolutely not. The energy needed would be enormous and to simply poke their head around without announcing thier presense is preposterous.

I believe there is intelligent life out there, because the universe is just too huge. However, I don't believe that aliens are visiting earth.... and for the same reason.

For interstellar travel to be possible, you'd need faster-than-light travel, which is impossible. As you approach the speed of light your mass becomes infinite so you'd need an infinite amount of energy to move, which obviously can't happen. Only massless particles (such as photons) can travel at the speed of light.

But even if you somehow *could* travel at the speed of light, it would still take forever to get anywhere because of the enormous distances involved. Four years just to get to the nearest star!

There's life out there, almost certainly. Unfortunately we'll just never see it...

(It's interesting to note that professional and amateur astronomers -- people who spend an awful lot of time observing the sky -- almost never report UFOs.)

I do think there are other life forms on different planets but I think most the UFOs people see are just a secret goverment project and they just let us think that. They like to keep us in the dark.

UFO just means unidentified fkying object - if you see something flying and you can't identify it, then it's a UFO. So ya gotta believe it!

Yes,

We fly around in space, who is to say that we are the most advanced society in the universe?

who is to say that the Earth is the only inhabited planet?

How arrogant of someone to believe Earth is the only planet that will support a life form with intelligence and capabilities.
