Lately my best friend has been feeling a little on the down side. He is always getting frustrated about things that go wrong. The thing is i have always wanted him to show me his emotions, because i have felt that he used to keep everything to himself, and not be open about it. So now that he is finally opening up, i dont kno what to tell him. I have told him that he needs to relax, and stop worrying about things. I think that the reason why he is acting the way that he is, is because his life isnt going the way that he wanted it to be. How do i help him? How do i tell him that life has its ups and downs, and u may not always get what you want, but that is what life is all about. Life is a struggle. How do i tell him that? Any pointers as to how i can help sooth my friend?

It is hard for me to say what to tel him since i dont personally know what is going on in his life. But i have alot of problems and dont let them interfere with my life, no offense to him at all. I mean, you can tell him that everyone has problems, some have it worse than others - sad comparison would be people in Africa which is very commonly talked about there struggles.
Other than the reflection of others lives, you can talk to him about how things will get better. LIke if he has problems with his parents, that i will pass and he will move out one day. That is how i look at it. Or if he is older than i think explain to him about how life does have its up and downs like you stated, and usually life has more ups than downs. You oviously care about him alot. I would just grab him and cry and explain how important he is to you in your life.
I think you already know what to do you pretty much told your self int he end of your description.
I hope things work out.

First of all there is no sense worrying about things over which one has no control ; example the weather, the bus is late, etc. If one rids himself of these hangups,he is half way home. Then have the friend list what he doesn't like about himself. How can he improve on those points . Finally , what does he like about himself, his life, etc. and concentrate on those things. Respect yourself and your positive points and life gets much easier.

i know this is hard. try to tell him that he can change his life.he can make the best of everything if he's been happy before. ask him wats wrong and why he's so unhappy.it might bring the truth out.
Good luck and hope everything turns out o.k.!
