the buckeyes play the 7-3 illinois fighting illini. thats right, 7-3. and with ron zook coaching, the illini actually look decent this year. they have played everybody tough, coming within two plays of being 9-1. any chance the buckeyes are looking at michigan and the undefeated season that they look past the illini and get burned. lots of upsets so far this year. and this game is ripe for it. my illini 31, the buckeyes 27.

it's not a "trap"... a trap implies that osu is above losing to illinois... osu has a loss coming before the end of the regular season - whether it is this game or michigan.

Good question, but no. Jim Tressel knows about the Illini and so do all the buckeyes. OSU never looks past anybody. Everybody knows that this is the most important game of the season because it is the next game. Ron Zook has done an excellent job with the Illinois team, but this weekend they will fall to 7-4 (which is still GREAT for Illinois) and the Bucks will be 11-0. Then we'll talk about the Wolver-weenies
Buckeyes 41 Illini 17

The Buckeyes know exactly what they're getting against Illinois. The Buckeyes prepare well for every game (unlike most of the one and 2 loss teams this year), and nobody with half a brain would overlook any 7-3 team.

And the Buckeyes have played THREE teams that were ranked when they played: #23 Purdue, #25 Penn St and #21 Wisconsin. TODD is a shining example of why all the Ohio State haters on Yahoo Answers should be ignored for their ignorance.

Not after the scare they gave us last year when we only won by 3. This year it's in the 'Shoe, and will be another Buckeye win. I'm not trying to take anything away from the Illini, they are a good team, but they still have a year or two to go before they can challenge for the Big Ten title.

Illinois is currently 3rd in the Big 10 and lost to the current #6 ranked team (Missouri) by only 6 points. It should be a good game but don’t think the Buckeyes have overlooked them.

Todd - the Buckeyes have played a #23 team – Purdue, and a #24 team – Penn State, both at night, and both away games. Unlike the SEC teams, when the Big 10 teams lose to the #1 ranked team in the country, they drop in the polls.

Just what does App State have to do with this question?

If the Illini win, they will have to hold the buckeyes under 20 points, as the bucks won't give up over 20.

What the buckeyes do well is prepare. They will not look past the Fighting Ills, We tried really hard to recruit Juice Williams, and we have tons of respect for zook and Illinois. I think it will be a great year, but this is the year for the buckeyes to prove to everybody, especially those in the SEC that we are a powerful team. Plus, so far, we have played very conservative football, so if we do get ourselves into trouble, you know tressle has some things up his sleeve that he will use if he needs. it will be a great game.

No way. Tressel doesn't allow his young men to look past any game. It's just not how they operate (and they've found success because of it).
I would partially agree with you that it could be a close game IF they were playing in Illinois, but they are playing at the Horseshoe. They might have come close to being 9-1, but they're not....a W is a W and an L is an L.

Ohio state should handle business though the Illini may keep it close in the first half. However, Ohio state has played NO ONE. They have played 1 top 25 team and that was over rated #25 Penn State. Ohio State is rated number one solely on the fact that they have sprinkled their nonconference schedule with High School team and it is and extremely weak Big Ten this year. Their test will be a very ready Michigan team that will want to spoil the Bucs season and put to rest the Appalation State saga. So when they lose to Michigan ,...fans can end that storyline finally!

Quite possibly a trap game. Illinois is not a bad team. They can surprise Ohio State. OSU did not look spectacular against Wisconsin, Illinois beat Wisconsin too. If the Buckeyes don't stay focused they could go down.
