I say we fire Sutton, trade Vilma and Miller for draft picks, do well there, sign key free agents like role players, and we may be back in the playoffs next season!

They need to stay healthy and have a good draft in April. Its definitly hard to win games when you're starting QB is hurt every other week.
NFL rank:
Rushing offense: 22
Passing offense: 23
Total offense: 28
Rushing defense: 29
Passing defense: 23
Total defense: 30
I think that what the Jets need to do most is improve the defense, so I think that is what they need to look at with their first round pick. There are two good choices for them, Glenn Dorsey to provide some help on the defensive line or Dan Connor a great run stopping LB.
I also think that it might be good if the can go out this off season and get McNabb. I think his time is about up in Philadelphia, and as much as he likes it there, I think he'd be open to going elsewhere. If they can bring him in it would give them a very talented Qb that is capable of turning around the offense, because honestly, I think they've got the pieces to have a good offense, they just need stability at Qb.

Start by drafting Glenn Dorsey to clog up the middle and allow Vilma and other linebackers to make more plays. By helping the defense the offense will improve by having the ball more and being able to run the ball effectively, and spreading the ball out to their recievers.
Other changes are necessary, but not many, a year ago this was a 10-6 playoff team.

Recipe for you:
start with one QB, then add in a decent RB (most teams have 2 or more), next you will need 3 WR that can catch and/or run.
let them simmer for an offseason and allow a lot of practice.
Now you are ready to make a defense....
for this, you will want 11 large, fast athletes that can tackle and catch a football.
Modify your coaching staff to taste and enjoy maybe winning a couple games
this recipe makes at least 1 average football team
enjoy!

The Yahoo! Answers word limit will not allow me to list everything the Jets need to do to become a real football team.

Fire Mangini and his staff. Trade your entire offense for a milky way bar. Trade your defense for a shiny new gumball.

Maybe they can schedule Michigan, Notre Dame and Appalachian State. They might actually beat Michigan and ND!
