I have to type up a speaker write up for my class and the speaker was talking about various things that were banned in the U.S. She mentioned a drink that sounded like she was saying slivovitz, but I wasn't sure. Any help is appreciated :)

Last time I checked, this plum-based beverage was NOT banned.

If so, they'll have to come and arrest me, because I've got a bottle of some fine, kosher Hungarian slivovitz in my freezer right now (the BEST way to drink it, too!).

The only thing I can think of that is banned is absinthe (see link), due to the content wormwood, which causes mental problems in the person drinking it.

There is a Slivovitz festival in Minnesota, so I would say no. It's a kind of plum brandy, and brandy is legal everywhere in the United States.

Slivovitz is a strong, colourless alcoholic beverage primarily made of distilled fermented plum juice.

it was probably banned as the rest of the alcoholic drinks in the us during the prohibition era.

Maybe it was banned to import it because there were sanctions against the country of origin at the time?

Sort of like Cuban cigars?
