Many women today wait until they are over 30 even to have their first baby.
My sister-in-law just had her first and she is 35.

You are a PERFECT age to have a baby. That's how old I was when I decided to start a family too. My daughter is now 2 1/2 years old and you know what, I am so glad that I waited. She is THE BEST thing that's ever happened to me and I love her more than anything, but this was definitely the right time to do it because I was so immature in the past and had to go through my partying stage first. And don't worry about the fact that you were on the pill. I too, was on the pill for over 10 years and once I got off of it, I was pregnant within the first month. Of course, all women are different, but just letting you know that it CAN happen. Oh, and I am now 30 and trying for our second! Good luck to you!

It is absolutely not too old to have a baby! There are positives and negatives of having a baby when you're younger, just as there are positives and negatives of having a baby when you're older.
Note that while it is true that the risks of certain complications increase as you age, this is absolutely not an issue at your age. (Obviously if you have any particular health issues they would come into play, but your age does not put you at risk or anything like that right now!) Contrary to what someone else said in her/his answer, a woman can absolutely have healthy children after the age of 35, and many many many of us do. The age of 35 is considered an age when some fertility things start to decline and some risk factors go up, but it is, in fact, a rather arbitrary number -- it is not that, at 34, everything is great, but then you hit 35 and hit a wall. At all.
Unless you know of a family history of premature menopause -- striking at, say, 30 -- you have no reason to fear becoming infertile.
For what it's worth, my children were born just a couple of weeks before my 39th birthday. Any complications I had had absolutely nothing to do with my age. As far as being a mother at this age, this is what I think: I wish I had the physical energy I had when I was 20 (I have twins), but I am also thrilled that I ended up having them when I did because I don't think I would have had the psychological maturity to raise twins, or at least, it would have been a lot more difficult than it is. It is a hard balance to strike -- we have more physical energy when we're younger, but, hopefully, more wisdom and patience, and a far better perspective, when we have more life experience. Pluses and minuses, you matter how you slice it.
If you're ready to have children by all means, start trying, and enjoy. Best of luck to you!

No not at all, 28 is a good age, some people have their babies too young, and that makes them struggle more. My first was 25,then 27 then 29. all are fine, no problems!
It could take awhile to conceive though, especially if you have been on birth control for so long, when your ready get off the pill, and give your body time to adjust. But... some people can get preggos right away, so be ready!
Good-luck to you!

I had my first child at 31. I am now 34, and I hope to have another child in a few years. I think 27 is a great age to have a child, and you will still have plenty of time to have more. You are definitely not too old. In fact, I think you are at a great age to handle raising a child physically and emotionally. You are also going to realize when you are 30, 35, 40 etc. how young 27 is. Trust me.

No I am 27 right now and pregnant with my second child. I got pregnant sooooooooooo fast! With my first pregnancy, I was only 25 and it took me 4 months to get pregnant, then I had tons of complications. I am doing much better with this baby and this pregnancy is going so smooth! Your age is not an issue, you never know if you have other issues until you start trying. Just a hit to get pregnant....... You ovulate the week after your period, during that time have sex every OTHER day. I swear it worked like a charm with me!

That's crazy! 27 is definitely NOT too old to have a baby. It is a great age to have kids. You're mature, you've had time to be on your own and have fun, and you're probably a lot more financially stable than you were when you were younger. Plus, tons of women are waiting 'til they are older to have kids now. 27 is not at all old! My mom had me when she was 37 and she did not have any help conceiving me, I was a surprise. You still have time to have a baby. Good luck!

I'm 26, going to be 27 in december. 27 is def. not too old to have a baby. My bf and I are TTC. I understand how you feel though. I want to have children before I'm 30 because of medical history in my family. Its a big fear of mine too that I won't be able to have children after 30. So I say, if your ready then start trying. Best of Luck!!

You're still young! I orginally wasn't planning on having children until I was 28 (although the plan now is next year, so 26). Unless you've been tested and told that you have fertility problems don't let that sit on your mind. People much older than you have healthy babies. Try not to let it get you stressed, cause stress will only hamper your chances of getting pregnant. Good luck!!
