Yes, I always thought so. Also hate the nickname Gabe. All I hear is GAYbriel. And I'm not actually homophobic. It's because that's what the kids called a little boy I knew. They'd say "GAYYYYYYYYbriel. Oh GAYYYYYYYYYYb." So that's what I think of when I hear the name.

Gabriel is definitely a boy's name. And a fine one!
Gabrielle would be for girls. Are you pronouncing it gay`-bree-el as opposed to ga-bree-`ell (for the girl's name?)
My 2 month old grandson's name is Gabriel with a middle name of Vaughn. It could not be mistaken for a girl's name with an equally male middle name, yes?
It is a nice name for a boy and the other spelling and pronunciation for Gabrielle is a beautiful name for a daughter.

Absolutely not. The angel gabriel was in fact a boy. I personally know three people (boys) with the name gabriel. And for short (not to mention) call him Gabe. Thats my thought.

No - Gabriel is a male name... Gabrielle is feminine... Sure you can use Gabriel for a girl, but I personally hear it and think "boy". Not that I'm opposed to it being used for a girl, however...

NO, it's not too feminine. Don't listen to the people who said it is, a student who is pretty popular with everyone has that name, and no one cares about his name at all, or anyone's names.
No one really makes a fuss about names, at least in highschool, or middle school. In elementary school, MAYBE people will tease each other a little about names, but elementary school passes by fast, and no one cares about how you were in elementary school.
Gabriel isn't too feminine, it just might not be considered as masculine as other names, like Josh, or something.
If you like the name Gabriel, go with it, because no one will make fun of him, maybe for a small time, and if for longer, those are people he wouldn't want to associate with. Those people will never have friends if they make fun of you for such a small thing, trust me, i'm in highschool. I have an INDIAN name (from India, not Native American), and i'm a popular kid at school.
At first I wished I had a name like Jake, or Jordan, but then girls gave me these nice nicknames, and I was the only one they gave nicknames too. Turns out the girls liked my unique, different name, better than the others. By the time I got to 7th grade, not only did I like the nicknames, but I was proud of my name of Indian heritage.
My name is totally, totally different from everyone else's. But girls at my school actually thought it was cute, and gave me some nicknames now, and i'm glad I have my name, girls like it, and it is my Indian heritage. Also it is unique, so go with Gabriel, don't worry about it.
By the way, when I heard that name just now, it reminded me of those strong Roman soldiers, I think i saw one in a movie named Gabriel, so it's probably actually a very masculine name. I also highly prefer it to names like Josh or Jake, because how many times do you hear that name a day? There are probably at least 3 different people in a class named Jake.

I think traditionally it was a guys name, and I've known a few guys by that name, but I still always think of it as girly (but that's probably because my female cousin is Gabrielle). I actually don't like the name.

I think its a nice name. In fact, I know a Gabriel...he doesn't have any problems with it. Since, the name has feminine forms, Gabrielle or Gabriella, people won't think of it as girly. If you are thinking about naming your kid, Gabriel, Go for it! :)
Note: (The guy I know pronounces it GAY-BRULL, not GAY-BRI-AL).

I knew a guy named Gabriel. He was very masculine and the name fit him well. Biblically, Garbriel was an angel.
